Last night we had dinner with one of our old neighbors in Ashburn, VA.  It has been eight years since our move to the Waterford area.  The lifestyles are so different and I do love them both.   My heart aches for the closeness we shared when we lived on Brownstone Court.  Of course, it was our first real home.   We looked across our backyard to our neighbors and many times ask them  to walk on over and  join us for a glass of wine or a cup of coffee after our family dinner was over.  We would sit outside chatting about our week for a few hours and then we would simply walk back to our respective homes. Looking for fresh produce?? Ashburn has finally gotten a farmers market.  You'll find it in the parking lot of the Kaiser Permanente building right behind the Ryan Park Shopping Center.  It runs every Saturday from 8am to 12pm through October 25th.  And it's not the farmers markets of old.  While strolling through yesterday, I saw butchers, bakers and winemakers too.                          Baker Farms sells just pork.  Stop by and ask Mr. Baker...he'll tell you all about the differences between fresh off of the farm and store bought.  Millcreek Farm was there too.  They sell beef, lamb, chevon(goat) and eggs. Alright, I have seen it all now. I was driving home on Route 7 from Sterling to Ashburn, Virginia and stopped at a stoplight near the George Washington University Campus in Ashburn. I noticed the car in front of me looking to their left and pointing so I looked over. There was a small bear about 3' tall on the side of the road that looked like it was going to cross the road. Luckily it didn't because cars were coming the other direction. Instead, it turned around and crawled through the fence and into the woods like a small child. I couldn't believe it. I have seen a lot of things on Route 7 like deer, fox and other small animals but never ever a bear. I have even been to Yellowstone Park and never saw a real bear. Last Friday night some friends and I took advantage of the free concert series being offered monthly by the Broadlands.  I personally wasn't too impressed by the opening band Road Soda who seemed more like a karaoke band.  However, I cannot grant enough accolades to the bank Derek James who had a great sound.  I was able to grab a few poor quality photos on my phone camera (captured below).  Besides the music, there were kids everywhere of all ages.  Broadlands did a fantastic job with all of their sponsors and volunteers setting all of this up.  Broadlands will be holding 3 more outdoor concert events this summer: July 18  '80s DRESS UP NIGHT                5:30-6:30 p.m.      The Backseat Betties                7-9:30 p.m.            Gonzo's Nose Aug. 15   CHILDREN's OPENER           ...
