May is National Moving Month. While that might seem like a joke … being ripped off by a rogue mover when you are moving your possessions and relocating to a new home certainly is not. Believe me. I’ve been through a bad moving experience when my husband was moving items from his mother’s home in Philly to our home in Arlington after she passed away. Arlington County is considering a new snow clearing ordinance (after last years record defying snowfalls), that would impose time limits on residents and business to clear sidewalks after a snowfall. Fines would be imposed after the time limit. On the surface this seems like a good idea but several factors have to be considered: -What if the homeowner is elderly and does not have the ability to do it or the means to hire someone. Sadly we can't always count on our neighbor to step in. -What if the home is vacant? What if you're the realtor.....here's a good chance to make yourself look good unless, like me the snowplow did not come down your cul-de-sac for four days and there was no way to get out.
