No. 4 - 🎵Cuz I am a follow-back girl...🎶 | November Grateful Challenge Anyone who follows me on ActiveRain usually gets a follow-back as a way of saying thanks for the gesture. To ignore a member that takes the time to reach out is B-A-N-A-N-A-S...Bananas! Granted, relationships are not instant, they do take time to develop but this is a good first step. Some ways to get follows:~  Respect toward fellow members ~  Participation within the platform ~  In line with shared interests or hobbies To each their own, though. This platform is numbers-driven and creates a sense of friendly competition of those from the same cities, counties or states. Some people throw out multiple market reports daily with little to no interaction, that is their choice but they are missing one of the best parts ...

This often lasts through to spring.   Many people can elevate their spirits by remaining engaged and volunteering time to special causes, visiting the elderly in rehabilitation facilities, going to the local animal shelter and playing with the kitties or walking the dogs. I...

Help Yourself: A Double Entendre! Growing up, I was surrounded by many amazing females, who taught me a lot about baking and cooking. My grandmother made everything from scratch with a titch, pinch, drop or a hint of something. She often used the palm of her hand to portion out ingredients, no measuring cups necessary. When visiting her house, she'd say, "help yourself." This meant all the homemade baked and cooked foods laid upon her table. As a southern woman, my aunt catered to her husband's every whim for several years of marriage. She baked and cooked daily to feed him and soon, their two children. One day, she and my uncle were sitting down together watching TV. He politely asked her to get up fetch him a glass of water. She said, "You might want to get up and "help yourself." Th...

No. 3 - For Client's Sake | November Grateful Challenge As a real estate agent that has been in the industry for quite a few years, I am most thankful for past clients. Those who have truly appreciated the service and the helpfulness that was provided to them, before, during and after the sale. They are a gift bestowed upon me through the years and here's why.  Communication.Remaining in touch by sending out quarterly mailings, answering the phone and sending comparable market analysis when they are curious about the market is important to me. Thank goodness for loyal past and present clients who refer, because otherwise there’s no way that I'd remain in business.  Loyalty.What does that really mean? Time and again in the past, I have questioned the definition and confidently believe th...

Not STRESSED...BLESSED! Getting caught up in the holiday rush is not uncommon this time of year for so many who will invite family and friends over to share a meal. Planning a menu, calling everyone, shopping for all the food on the list, then preparation, cooking, baking and setting a decorative, festive table takes time.5 Ways to enjoy the process: 1. Make and stick to a budget2. Say No to outside activities 3. Turn on some upbeat music4. Ask for some help when needed5. Be very realistic in your endeavors Instead of getting flustered and out of sorts from all the work, also think about how many God-given gifts that have been bestowed and feel blessed instead. If you must, have DESSERTS first...that will erase the STRESSED out state of mind quick! *DESSERTS is STRESSED spelled backwards.

Going on a 'Friendly' Archaeological Neighborhood Dig After a few looks, buyers chose a beautiful home at market price in a local southern Utah community that would give them many years of quiet enjoyment. After negotiating the price and some terms, an acceptance resulted. Then, time came for due diligence. The home inspection went very well, appraisal came in where expected and Seller's Property Condition Disclosure was signed. Onward, or so we all thought! Advice from well-intentioned friends is like the weather, some good and some bad.  The buyer called a friend to discuss soil conditions, who put a high level of doubt into his mind. The house was 15 years old, zero complaints to the City regarding shifting, buckling or heaving foundation issues. Current owners mentioned nothing on t...

Lighting another's candle. Sharing experiences or industry knowledge with new or seasoned agents can further solidify relationships or create partnerships, encouraging successful standards through an abundance mindset. Willing participants do embrace sage advice. Believing in one's abilities spurns longevity in real estate practices. Of course, that also depends on many factors relating to self-motivation, intentional actions and a 'can do' attitude. Inspiring others creates a win-win for all industry professionals! “A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.”

Nerdin Gardens: Southern Utah Dixie Salad The holidays are fast approaching, along with invitations to seasonal, social gatherings. Most of the time, people bring a side dish that can be enjoyed by all. Here is one that is very popular in the southern Utah area.  Pomegranates are a favorite fruit that grows on trees here in Nerdin Gardens. This salad is easy to make, taking about 20 minutes prep time. I always double the recipe to make it go further and because my husband enjoys it a lot!  Dixie Salad Ingredients:1 cup pomegranate seeds1 cup chopped Granny Smith apple½ cup chopped pecans1 ½ cups whipping cream¼ cup powdered sugar¼ teaspoon vanilla (if you like) Instructions:De-seed the pomegranates. Slice the apples into small bite-size pieces. Chop the pecans. Add the seeds, apple, and...

There are ice holes all around me. Daddy took little Billy fishing for the first time down yonder to the local watering hole. After saying bye to his mom, they set out to catch their limit. At least, that was the plan. After several hours of no luck, Billy got bored. Calling his mom, he said the trip was not any fun and that he was surrounded by nothing but ice holes. Thinking that Billy's dad had taken him to the local bar instead of fishing, she said, "Put your dad on the phone, right now!"  Clear, concise communication is important at all times when relaying messages, otherwise a breakdown may occur and can set the tone for a verbal whipping. Whether deserved or not!

No. 2 - They Don't Start Wars | November Grateful Challenge  Saturday, the 11th of November, 2023, marks a special holiday honoring America's veterans, both past and present. Despite ongoing political folly or poorly made decisions, military troops proudly serve and defend this country with their very lives, whether here at home or in foreign countries. “People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.”
– George Orwell War is hell and if you don't believe that, talk to someone (if the person agrees), who experienced the front lines firsthand or witnessed, unthinkable, horrific scenes that can never be unseen or undone!  Veterans are heroes that I honor every day. My uncle, step-father and cousin went to Vietnam. Two came ba...
