Southern Utah Zip Line Fun If you or someone you know is looking for zip line fun in Southern Utah, come out to the Kanab Zip Line. This sky high attraction is on 40 acres of unspoiled desert and rivals many zip lines across the nation for its speed and spectacular scenery. Some have even said that it’s unlike any other zip line in the world with three consecutive zip line runs; each going faster than the one before. You can find the Kanab Zip Line just a little over an hour’s drive east of St. George UT along Hwy 89 at the outskirts of town. The zip line is also a mile above sea level. The first zip line run is 950 feet long and 350 high. Run two zip line is 400 feet long and 70 feet high. Run three zip line is 400 feet long just above the ground. Run three zip line can also be ridden...

What a show nature put on last night with lightning strikes and booming thunder in the Grand Staircase National Monument and close to Lake Powell.  If you were on Lake Powell the night of August 27th, I'd like to hear your stories.  Hopefully, everyone was safe thru storm winds, lightning, and rains.  To be on Lake Powell during a thunderstorm can be scary or can be a fantastic experience.  The lightning show was spectacular.  Stay safe and enjoy Lake Powell.

Darcy and I are hosting an Open House in Duck Creek tomorrow from 10 am until 1 pm.  Duck Creek, didn't exist until after the original "Flicka" movie was filmed.  I should say it was just a ranch until after that movie was filmed.  Now it is a town with many cabins and has become a year round get away.  It is on the mountain approximately 40 miles East of Cedar City. The cabin that we have listed is a 3 bedroom 1.5 bathroom cabin.  735 E Cedar Mountain Drive is the address. Front of Cabin Picnic area/Fire Pit Toy Shed As you can see, this is a cabin right in the Pine Trees for under $250K!  Come and check it out!

I have just heard that the anonymous Michael Jackson fan bought a house in Nevada for about 3 million dollars. You may say that there’s nothing extraordinary about this, but the fact is that the person paid for the house 3 millions and Jackson stayed in this house only for a night. I have always been surprised that some fans are ready to do everything to please their idol. But this act has puzzled me a lot. When you are going to buy a house, you always try to choose something very comfortable and convenient as you are hoping to live there happily for a long time. In this case I can’t get the motive of the person who bought the house. Is he going to live there and to feel proud that once a famous person stayed there for only one night? Or may this person is going to open a museum and to ...

I've started a new series on my Lake Powell Real Estate Blog which I should have written a long time ago. In 1998, my then 14 year old son David, discovered what turned out to be a great specimen of a plesiosaur. Plesiosaurs were water bound marine reptiles that lived at the time of the dinosaurs. Think - Loch Ness Monster - but this one had a very short neck and jaw bones 4 feet long.   Over the next several years David would make more discoveries in the Tropic Shale by Lake Powell behind Big Water, Utah. One of the discoveries would end up being a new species of Plesiosaur called “Eopolycotylus rankini”. A new species of Therizinosaur was found in the same area which David is the co-discoverer "N. graffami" which is named after our neighbor. Please follow the link to the story. This l...

With two large storm fronts moving through the area last week, things were a bit hectic around here. Between the two storms Big Water, Utah received 8.5 inches of snow. Keeping in mind our average rainfall here is around ten inches, this was a big deal. Usually it snows around Lake Powell four or five times a year, but the snow is usually melted by noon. Not this time. At almost a week later, we still have a couple of inches on the ground in the places not in direct sunlight. Enjoy the photos! Path to Big Water School nice and snow packed!   Snow on the fruit trees and two large Sage bushes covered.     North to the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument

For the folks that have stopped by my blog here at at Lakepowellrealty and joked around about photos off my back porch... here you go! Yesterday I walked out of my driveway to the street and shot the following three photos. These are all from the corner of my driveway looking basically north-ish. There was a storm starting to build which arrived today. It has been raining, well sprinkling, all day which is great news! With only 4 to 8 inches of rainfall a year, rain is good. Looking North West to the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument The View North East toward Lake Powell with Big Water School on the right hand side Looking almost due North to the Monument and over Wahweap And There You Have It - Views from a Big Water Utah Porch!

It took a few days to get these photos up - but here they are The first on is on Highway 389 in Arizona, just outside of the Paiute Reservation, between Hurricane and Fredonia. This one is on Highway 89 between Kanab and Big Water at the turn off to the Old Paria Movie Set. The set was burned down a few years ago and currently there is a fund raiser going on to have it rebuilt. I took this photo a couple of months ago, but on the way home from the training, got the same view, so I decided to repost it. This photo is also at the Old Paria Movie Set Turn off looking back toward the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument. You can see the different levels "Staircase" of mountains going back toward the monument.

Can anyone tell me the name of this furry creature?  As me and my friend were hiking in Cedar Breaks Utah last year taking in the beauty, we came across this furry creature sunbathing on the rocks, about the size of a small cat.  We were not sure what it was when we first saw  the furry creature, it looked like a badger at first glance. There was a couple standing there looking at it also and we asked, "it that a badger"? They replied no, "That is a ____________". I cannot remember what they called it, but it was a very strange name.  This furry creature was lying on the rocks right on the ledge of this cliff that dropped thousands of feet. If something was to startle this furry creature, it may have fallen to it's death.  I have left you with two photos. One photo shows you a close up...
