Simply Say Thank You to Our Troops   This morning I awoke and was drawn to the window to look outside and see a blanket of snow covering the ground. The snowflakes shine as if millions of little crystals are blanketing the ground. What beauty that holds. To You Our Troops, I Thank You for Giving Us Our Freedom.   Each day I’m given the opportunity to hold my children, hug them, listen to their stories, and tenderly give them a kiss each night and say “I love you”. To You Our Troops, I Thank You for Giving Us Our Freedom.   Day after day I find myself driving down the road, venturing to my destination, whether it be for work or to see a family member or friend, the simplicity of it all makes me grateful. To You Our Troops, I Thank You for Giving Us Our Freedom.   As I kneel down to pray...

It was an autumn day, the leaves were falling, the cool crisp air tickled your nose and with every step you could hear the crumble of fallen leaves. The year was 1996, it was a normal day, filled with the routine as many days before. This day I would find myself with a lesson learned from a 3 year old.  We arrived home in the early afternoon, following a day at preschool.  My twin boys were only 3 at the time and the wonder of a 3 year old can bring many surprises.  As we approached our front door, with an exciting surprise, both of my boys found a bag of Chips-Ahoy cookie samples with a coupon attached to the door.  “Momma, somebody left us cookies, can we eat them now”?  Were the words from Tyler, my more reserved child.  Just as I opened the door to let my boys in, I turned around a...

The Ranches @ Stone Creek in West Jordan is a real Senior Housing Community, but you couldn't tell it by looking.  The Home Owners at the Ranches want you to be able to tell by looking.  They think the best way to do that is to replace the monkey bars and plastic slide with amenities that better reflect their time of life.  Nothing special, just what they thought was promised, park benches, a pavilion with picnic tables and a barbecue pit. Not a basketball court and playground. "There seems to be no consideration given to the demographics of the community" said a letter to the city from the Home Owners Association. Other home owners have said that Peterson Development had not finished parks and open spaces as promoted and promised. The city says that the open space issues stem from 3 pr...

The answer is West Jordan, near the Senior Center.! Chauncey Depew,  when asked at 92 "what is the most beautiful word in the world"?.  The elderly Lawyer replied "Home". Chauncey must have owned a home in West Jordan, because a body needs things around that home that make later life more pleasurable.   The city fathers/mothers of West Jordan understand that, and each month as I look at the programs and activities provided our older citizens I am proud to be a resident of a community that is so committed to the well-being of it's older population. As an example, councilwoman Melissa Johnson is looking at ways to expand the times and nature of activities offered at the center. More evening activities for a program already full of fun and helpful stuff. Just look at October.  The Center s...

I learned somewhere around the 3rd grade that one measure of a civilization or society was its libraries (think Hammurabi) so it's only fitting that as West Jordan qualifies as a "Big City" a decision has been made to move the hub of the entire Salt Lake County Library System. A new 20,000 sq. ft. facility will be built behind West Jordan City Hall adjacent to Veterans Memorial Park.  In addition to housing the administrative offices it will host many major Library events and activities. The Salt Lake County Library System is the 13th busiest library system in North America and certainly a welcome addition to an already attractive and vibrant community. Four building projects are planned over the next four years, replacing existing libraries in Magna, Murray, Herriman and West Jordan. L...

West Jordan Utah home prices continue to rise but at a much slower pace. June prices were only 9% higher than last year and were 5.8% higher than prices at the end of 2006. The slowing is certainly due to the increased inventory and the length of time it is taking to sell homes. The absorption rate has increased from 3.5 months in April to 5.2 months in June. The increase has moved West Jordan from a sellers market to a balanced market with the trend moving towards a buyers market. Month Average Sold Price Change from Prior Year # of Homes sold Change from Prior Year Absorption Rate in Months April $254,431 +15.95% 144 -3.36% 3.5 May $263,323 +21.10% 135 -34.15% 4.6 June $257,380 +9.29% 129 -38.28% 5.2 2ND Quarter $258,074 +14.87% 412 -26.82% 5.2 Is the slight dip in June prices an anom...

West Jordan home values have increased approx 8.2% since the end of the year and have increased about 3% each in April and May. West Jordan home values are strong and continue to rise. Home values in May were 21% higher than in May 2007. Though home values are up, the number of homes selling per month is declining. The absorption rate in May was at 5.5 months which is 28% higher than it was in April. West Jordan moved from a seller market to a "neutral market" in May as well. Compare West Jordan to the rest of Salt Lake County's absorption rates. For more information on West Jordan Real Estate visit us at www.KeithSellsUtah.com.

Recently I read an article titled "Popular Primary Children's can't grant every conjoined twin's wish".  This article broke my heart.  I live here in Utah and personally have twins.  Had they been conjoined and no medical help provided, my heart would have been more than broken.  The hospital provides medical services to all our children in need. Here is a brief piece of the article taken from  Monday May 28, 2007.   by Heather May, Salt Lake Tribune. More info at  http://www.sltrib.com/search/ci_6004695. With infant daughters fused at their lower spines, Kerry and Anna Clark needed a hospital with experience separating conjoined twins. So when Kerry Clark was being transferred by the Air Force, the family chose to land at Hill Air Force Base.  The same surgeons who separated the Herr...

West Jordan Utah homes sales decline 15% but values rise 19%.West Jordan market remains strong despite the decline in the number of homes sold. Prices have increased 19.10% and days on market, while increasing is still only 33 days. Condo sales volume has also declined and consistent with homes, condo values increased 16.01% West Jordan is a strong market should continue to do well through the remainder of 2007.The following table compares home and condo sales in West Jordan Utah between March 2006 and March 2007. Please be cautious in making any buy or sell decisions based on a single months analysis. Quarterly and trend analysis are much more meaningful than isolating a single month. But, it is interesting to compare our statistics to what we see in national and regional activity and ...
