Nerdin Gardens: Dog Vomit Slime Mold...🤢 Sounds pretty gross, right?  The visual is even less appealing than the descriptive name. It looks like dog gak and often shows up after long periods of rain or as a result of excessive watering. The mold thrives in shady areas, especially in bark mulch, grass clippings and dead leaves. It is a gelatinous, lumpy, yellow to white growth that is harmless to humans. Spread by the wind, the unsightly presence is easily removed by raking gently to prevent the spores from becoming airborn. Then dump into the garbage bin. Be careful where you step after a good drenching or you might get Dog Vomit Slime Mold on your shoe...Ewwww! 🤢  Industry tie in: When something unexpected shows up, figure out a way to remediate and move forward with confidence.

A reason. A season. Or life.   As the car pulls from the curb, seven+ years of memories invade my mind, tugging at the heart in an effort to extricate them from the extreme grief.   Today, little Rugerman, his mom, sister and brother will be driving to Iowa, their next place of residence.   Again, I say goodbye with a heaviness that might lighten upon his return. In the meantime, the soul well has become empty, in dire need of full-filling.   They say that people come into your life for a reason, a season or life. It is up to us as individuals to gleam the lessons gained or taught from each and every one.   With Ruger, I was there to witness his first breath of life. Through the years, he taught us to be present, happier, to allow true joy into our lives and to forgive easily.   Family...

Nerdin Gardens: Edible Art When picking a day's harvest in our back yard garden, the imagination is sparked by nature's shapes, sizes and colors. Many times, images emerge from the result. The level of whimsicality depends on mood and mindset! On this day, I was feeling a little spicy and homemade salsa came to mind as I created this edible arrangement.  Walking the garden while harvesting 6 varieties of tomatoes, I realized at that moment that All Maters Matter!  Spending time in the garden is relaxing and quite often brings about a joyous imagination. This one is called Crazy Veggie Lady!  During the growing season the imagination is tickled, our bodies nourished, not to mention it's also food for the soul!  Thanks for stopping by and I made you...

It's Official! Firstday has Replaced Thursday. While Face-timing Little Miss Independent aka Kenslee Mae, (our just turned) 4-year old Gbaby girl, I asked when she was going to make a visit to come to see me and Popop. She replied, "On Firstday." I asked, "On Thursday?" She said, "No Gma, it's Firstday!" Firstday it is and I am so happy that her cute family will be here soon to make some lasting memories. Popop is excited to hold Baby Kodah, her little brother for the first time. Happy Monday all...I may start calling it Moneyday...what do you think?

Enjoy getting sauced! One of the benefits of having a backyard garden, is the ability to pick a diverse selection of vegetables every day during the growing season. You can’t get any fresher than that!  This simple tomato sauce recipe has only seven ingredients and can be used in dishes such as spaghetti and meatballs, bruschetta, goulash, and many other Italian-style dishes.  Preparation: 20 MinutesFirst, you take the Roma tomatoes, score the bottom of each one with a sharp knife and toss in to boiling water for 30 seconds. This will allow for easy peeling. Drain. Put them into a bowl and cover completely with ice to stop the cooking process quickly. Peel, cut oblong and remove all seeds. You will then chop them coarsely.  Peel large white onion and chop coarsely, put into a large, hot ...

Raindrops are falling on my head...Oh, hail! 😵 As the sun relented, the skies instantly darkening, deafening thunder booming!, lightning flashing, clouds furiously clashing, dumping more than our share of rain once again.  Before dissipating, the heavens above decided to add just a touch of mayhem in the form of frozen balls, millions of them, hurled at supersonic speed towards earth!  Can I get a hail-yeah? Nerdin Gardens: Stretching the Prospecting Muscle Venturing out to the gardens in search of Praying Mantis hatchlings can become an adventure. Extremely elusive at a glance, knowing where to look, with an experienced eye, helps. They are diligent, self-motivated hunters, often traveling to great lengths to forage. Well-honed instincts guide them to food sources, their stealthiness provides cover against predators. After looking for quite some time under/over leaves and high atop stately Hollyhock towers, I spied with my side eye...a tiny mantis stretching itself an effort to satisfy his appetite.  Remaining alive depends on consistent methods implemented every day. I was so excited, took a picture to remember and celebrate his most welcome presence in Nerdin Gardens. We can all learn go...

Should I Stay or Should I Go Now? Last year, Utah shut down for a couple of weeks. While other states were ulta-restrictive, Utah was open to visitors. State and national parks became the preferred playground for the masses.   Many out-of-area buyers cancelled due to the Wuhan flu. I continued to market and advertise, staying the course, as usual. Business increased due to a large influx of buyers. Come spring, we went about getting the back yard garden tilled and planted, anticipating another successful growing season. We were later rewarded with an abundant harvest!    Of course, going to other states was not a viable option, so we decided to take on a project that became a cohesive team effort for all involved. The results were most impressive!  When vacationing, people look for trop...

Nerdin Gardens: I Pea'd My Plants  Our back yard garden still maintains flowering, tender shoots sprouting up in neat little rows in raised beds. Grapes and muscadines are twining, reaching out for supports. Sweet Pea vines steadily climb upwards on the chicken wire trellis and upon looking closer, some edible pods had plumped up overnight. I was surprised that some were ready for picking. So, I pea'd my plants in Nerdin Gardens and am happy about that!  Looking for a top producing agent with a fun sense of humor to help buy or sell property in southern Utah?
