This coming weekend is the last weekend to enjoy 'Twas the Lights Before Christmas, a holiday walk-thru light extravaganza at the East Texas State Fairgrounds. The City of Tyler's Parks & Recreation Dept will hosts its 6th annual Holiday in the Park and Bazaar on Dec. 9 & 1oth. Activities will begin Fri, Dec. 9th at 4 pm and will commence at 8 pm.  Participants will have the opportunity to ride ponies, bungee jump, climb a rock wall, tubing and more.  A performance showcasing Artistic Dance Concepts will start at 7 pm. Did I mention that there will be over 85,000 lbs of snow? Saturday, Dec. 10th, participants can shop at the Bazaar starting at 10 am until 5 pm.  More than 40 vendors are signed up.  Festivities will conclude with a showing of "Polar Express" in 3-D (3-D glasses provided for the first 500 participants) in the amphitheater at 6 pm. Christmas in the Village Breckenridge Village of Tyler (BVT) will host its annual holiday event, Christmas in the Village - A Lighting of the Campus, on Saturday, November 19, 2011.   Christmas in the Village allows for BVT residents to showcase their talents through art and music, all the while providing community members with a better understanding of the special individuals served through Breckenridge Village. Is customer service missing in your business? I had a great visit with a seller today in Tyler, Texas about his total dislike of real estate agents and after much discussion finally traced it to the fact that he had received terrible service from at least 2 other agents who had had his house listed. Amazingly enough, he had come by to say he had gotten great service from an agent in our office. It is amazing that in a day where good customers are increasingly hard to come by, some agents still believe that a sign in the yard and a Casper the ghost impression is still acceptable in today’s market. Well what do you know another great idea from the government fails? In 2010 with fully one quarter of all mortgages under water and people looking to strategic foreclosure as an option our lovely brain trust in Washington comes up with a brilliant plan to save millions of these properties and adjust the value. As a REO Agent, I understand "as is" when it comes to a home for sale but does the first time homebuyer really understand? Purchasing a home "as is" basically means that the seller (bank or owner) is not willing to make any repairs to the property despite the obvious defects.   To discover unknown or hidden defects, a home inspection is a must but can't possibly reveal all potential problems.  That's why a Home Protection Plan (One Year Home Warranty) is a must when purchasing a property "as is".  A home protection plan will cover most major systems in the home for up to one year with the new homeowner paying only a "trade call" fee when a repair is needed. Tyler Rose Garden is claimed to be the largest public collection of roses, with more than 40,000 bushes and5 00 varieties, in the country. Keith Mills, who served as superintendent of the Rose Garden from 1984-2000, said the main reason residents began growing roses in Tyler and East Texas in the mid-1800 was because of the sandy acidic soil here, moderate temperatures and usual adequate rainfall. The city of Tyler  bought the property now home to the rose garden in 1912 for a future site of a park and fairgrounds.
