The Cat Conundrum Continues! As many of you know that have been following my Cat Conundrum Series over the last couple of weeks or so, you know after recently loosing our Dear Black Lab “Moose” at the end of July, that not too long after that a furry little creature who we now call “Misu” showed up at our house and basically adopted us.  And we have since then adopted him.  I like how Don Sabinske of Don Sabinske & Associates recently put it in a comment on the Cat Conundrum Revisited post,  “Your Cat was a gift from Moose.  And what a great gift!  House-Broken even, just like your dogs." I thought I would share a few pictures that I snapped over the past couple of weeks or so and show you how “Misu” is fitting right in at his new home.  And no, I don’t always feed him on top of the hoo...

The Cat Conundrum; Revisited! To say the last month or so has been uneventful would be an understatement of the largest proportions!  It all started with me taking and passing my Texas Real Estate Broker Exam toward the end of July.  The joy of passing my broker exam was then overshadowed a few days later when we lost our Dear Black Lab “Moose”.   I then received my official Texas Real Estate Broker License a few days later.  This was followed up by a week or so of me researching, contemplating, soul searching, and then ultimately deciding to become a part of RE/MAX | RE/MAX of Texas | RE/MAX Heritage.  Just when you think that you have had enough drama over the past several weeks, a little furry kitty cat shows up on our front door, out of the blue.   If you have read the first blog po...

If You Want to Be the Best, You Have to Be With the Best! Okay, so in my last few posts, I have highlighted me receiving my new Real Estate Broker License, from the Texas Real Estate Commission and how you can successfully pass your Salesperson or Broker Licensing Exam on your first try.  But the question still remains, now that I have that broker license, what's next?  I have been alluding to the decision on where I have decided to hang my real estate hat, so hang on, we’ll get to that in just a minute. One thing that I know for sure now, is that having a broker license will certainly open up a lot more doors now, than not having one.  It seems that when you have a broker license, you as an agent or broker now in this case are in a little bit higher demand.  When my former brokerage Re...

Welcome Tarrant County Texas Newest Real Estate Broker | Northeast Tarrant County Real Estate The Texas Real Estate Commission would like to congratulate John Hrisco of John Hrisco & Associates as the Newest Real Estate Broker in Tarrant County Texas serving Northeast Tarrant County Real Estate and the surrounding areas.   I normally don’t like shameless self-promotion, but I thought in this particular case due to the gravity of the situation, it was warranted.  Also, this post is about a month overdue, but I did not feel like posting it at the time due to the loss of our dear black lab “Moose”.  After ten years in the Real Estate business, late last year in a conversation with one of my old brokers from my previous brokerage in our initial interview with each other it was proposed that...

The Cat Conundrum! First off, my wife and I are animal lovers in general, all of God’s creatures great and small.  Secondly, for most of my childhood and adult life, I have also been a dog lover.  Have never been much of a cat person, got nothing personal against cats, its just the last time I owned a cat was back in like elementary school.  I had one of those cats that looked exactly like “Morris” the Cat. You see, up until about a month ago we were a four doggie household.  For the last ten to fifteen years or so I have had a dog of some kind.  I had a black lab named “Goose” for about ten years who passed in 2008, then while taking a tour of the local animal shelter to donate “Goose’s” things a few weeks after he passed, they happened to have a black lab in back already appropriately...

What Do I Remember About Kindergarten, Maybe More Than I Realized! Everything I am doing right now as an adult, all started when I was in Kindergarten, or did it, really?  Maybe, maybe not.  This is one of those ActiveRain Contest that I almost did not submit an entry for.  Why because like several of my friends in the rain said, they either had a very vague memory of kindergarten or did they really remember anything at all? I thought to myself, that you know what, although I have a lot of childhood memories, everything back in kindergarten years was a blur.  I didn’t realize until this contest that I was old enough to where when I was going to kindergarten, it wasn’t really offered like it is today.  So like my friend, Barbara Hensley, I attended kindergarten at a First Baptist Church ...

Bus Schedule | Keller Independent School District | Tarrant County As like most school districts in the State of Texas, the Keller Independent School District had to take some significant measures over this past year in order to cut their budget deficit.  With the rising cost of Gas, it should be no surprise to anyone that the days of free bus service for your children is no more.  We pay for our bags on airline travel now, so it was only a mater of time for other industries to adapt similar measures in order cut cost and raise revenue. With that in mind, the Keller Independent School District has adopted a pay-for-ride bus transportation service in partnership with Durham School Services, rather than completely eliminating bus transportation service all together. "Moosy Moo", We Will Miss You! Several of my Active Rain friends have inquired over the past week or so where have I been in regards to posting here on  Active Rain.  As many of you may or may not know, I have been wrapping up studying for and successfully, finally, passing both portions of the Texas Real Estate Broker Exam.  But that is for another post. I have been trying in my head to put together a post that would do "Moose" justice, but I know in my heart that nothing will.  If you are not a dog lover, you may not understand, so I apologize, but thank you for letting me express my emotions here.  My wife and I have no children of our own right now, so until we do, our four doggies are our children. If you have a dog, you most likely understand what I'm talking about. Life gives you...

“Why I Chose Real Estate – Sharped Dressed Man”  The following is a brief history of on why I chose Real Estate as a career.  It is my entry into the contest for the Diary of a REALTOR® group contest on the ActiveRain Real Estate Network. What you should be looking at right about now is a baby picture of me in basically what I would call a baby suit, no, not a birthday suit, but a bonafide looking baby suit, with tie and all, however its where abouts are unknown to me at this time even after an exhaustive search at my father’s place and home.   I know it exist, but will hopefully be able to retrieve it and post it here in the future.  Needless to say, not trying to brag here, but it was a “Gerber Baby” worthy shot if I don’t say so myself.  You’ll have to take my word for it.   I guess ...

Welcome to July’s Issue of This Month in Real Estate – with Jay Papasan & Bryon Ellington The National Association of Realtors (NAR) shows home sales activity at a pace of 4.8 million annually, NAR also shows a Median Home Price of $167,000, And according to Freddie Mac the Average 30-Yr Fixed Mortgage Avg Rate: 4.5%  According to one research poll the top 3 technology tools an agent uses to market a house.  In my opinion, this particular order and forms of marketing may not always be the best methods, especially in regards to email marketing. In another report seen on CBS11 News recently, Keller Texas residents in neighborhoods in and around Roanoke Road; Knox Road; and Ottinger Road are frustrated because these busy roads have no shoulder or sidewalks for cyclist and pedestrians walking their pets or out for a stroll in the neighborhood.  This presents safety concerns for cyclist, neighbors walking their pets, and others in the neighborhood. One man walking his dog “Scrubby”, he was shown walking his dog down the side of a very busy street.  A lot of dogs prefer to walk on pavement versus the grass.  I know, we have four dogs ourselves.  A car came speeding by in the same lane as he was trying to walk his dog along the side of the road.  The City of Keller says that currently there is just not enough money in the budget, a...

As reported on CBS11 News tonight as well as MSNBC, Finally something positive is being done by the government in an effort to curb the number of foreclosures on the market.  In an effort to revamp its troubled foreclosure-prevention program, the Obama administration is making it easier for out-of-work-homeowners to stay in their homes. Starting 1 August 2011, the Federal Housing Administration (FHA) will extend the period for unemployed homeowners to miss mortgage payments to a full year from the three or four months that it is currently.  This will allow qualified homeowners to go without making a mortgage payment for one full year before the foreclosure process begins. This extension in the grace period only applies to FHA-backed loans, which traditionally are given to low and middle...
