Throwing the flag in the garbage or burning it are absolutely not the proper method of retirement and frankly you would be disgracing this great nation by doing so!     If you own an American Flag which is damaged, tattered, worn out, torn or discolored the Katy American Legion will be collecting those flags for a proper retirement ceremony. Beautiful Day January 11, 2014 Here in Katy TX   It was a gorgeous day on Saturday January 11, 2014 here in Katy TX. The high temperature was about 72 degrees and it is 66 degrees at 5:36 PM. We did have some cold weather for this area earlier in the week when the lows were in the low 20’s and highs for the day in 30’s due to the polar vortex which gripped a large part of the US. However, we did not have any freezing rain, snow, snow drifts, snow shoveling, icy roads, etc. I think everyone gets the picture. Thirty -Third Annual Rice Harvest Festival being held in Katy     The Katy Rice Harvest Festival has been in the past and will continue into the future a huge and very important economic annual event for the City of Katy and a major contributor to local merchant’s economic year. The Festival will be held on Saturday October 12, 2013 from 10:00 AM until midnight and on Sunday October 13, 2013 from noon until 6:00 PM. This marks the 33 annual Rice Harvest Festival. Another Nail Biter for the Katy Tigers   The Katy Tigers opened their High School football season last evening playing the Klein Bearkats in Reliant Stadium. Yes sir this was another of those nail biter games for the poor parents of the Katy Tigers as Klein was still in the game until near the end of the first half when viola the game was out of hand in a New York second and the fat lady was already singing for Klein. Katy actually showed their team is human as they made some errors! The final score was Katy 41 Klein 3. Like I said another nail biter! LOL!! Katy Branch Library in Katy Offers Genealogy at Lunch TimeThe Katy Branch Library in Katy Texas which is part of the Harris County Library system is offering a Genealogy class on Monday February 25, 2013 starting at noon and lasting until 2 PM. Brookwood Community presents "Wine Down" Special Fund Raising DinnerBrookwood Community which is home to adults with functional disabilities is holding a very special dinner titled” Wine Down” on Friday January 25, 2013.
