Science Nights this Summer Presented by Katy Prairie Conservancy   The Katy Prairie Conservancy ( KPC) is a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization whose basic goal is to save the Katy and surrounding prairie for the native wildlife. This summer KPC is holding a children science summer evenings classes. The programs are best related to children ages 5 to 10 years old. The classes are offered on Tuesday and Thursday evenings starting at 6 PM and lasting till 8 PM. These sessions are held at one of the preserves owned by KPC being “Indianagrass Preserve”. Katy ISD Hosts Annual Folk Life Festival   Katy Independent School District (KISD) is hosting the 28TH annual Folk Life Festival on Saturday April 6, 2013 from 9 AM to 5 PM. The Festival is being held as usual at the district’s Outdoor Learning Center (OLC).   Katy ISD Outdoor Learning Center is situated on 35 acres of land which is kept as best as possible in its natural state. All the building blend into the natural setting. The concept is for students to experience life as it was for early Texan’s. Unique Christmas Light and Music Show in Katy Texas A unique and special Christmas light show is being held every evening during the holidays at a historical home in Old Katy. The home is named Cottage Charm and was built in 1905. All the lights for this show are computer operated with over 80 individual light channels. This creates thousands of light combinations while music is played coordinating with the flashing lights. The music is available by tuning into radio station 89.9 FM while watching the gorgeous light show.
