36th Annual Fair on the Square Downtown Huntsville, Texas Saturday, October 2nd, 2010 9 am to 5 pm I look forward to Fair on the Square every year! We have attended Fair on the Square since 1994 and can not express how much fun it is.  There is live music, an antique car show, face painting and games for kids, a quilt show, and all kinds of wonderful food vendors. The first year that we attended Fair on the Square, we adopted a kitten from the Rita B. Huff Humane Society. Last year I left with the cutest toddler outfit that I bought from Jamee Chandler, Ruby Newton, Susan Guerrero and Hope Thomas' booth "The Mom and Tot Shop" I sure do wish that I would have taken a picture of their booth. You can bet your boots that I will this year! No problem, though! Just go to the Huntsville Walker...

Huntsville TX Homes - Walker County Real Estate - Sunday, Beautiful Sunday I can't believe it, I took the day off.  I put my brain on the proverbial rinse cycle.  It was a beautiful thing. I majored in playing fetch with my "Teaser" (my Maltese) Her Name is Carmencita--"Carmen" , Lounging in my PJ's until obscene hours of the day, and making sure my recliner was still in working order. She is very demanding.  Waht is her favorite toy yo fetch???   Synthetic wine corks.  Can you belive it?  She has a box of toys, purple dogs (named "purplehead), rope bones, fuzzy stingrays--named "sammy stingray" (that just doesn't sound right, does it?),  "Crabby Crab," self descriptive, etc.  She loves corks.  And she LOVES when they roll under things like cabinets, the sofa, chairs.  We even chose a c...

Sam Houston Statue If you are passing through Huntsville on I-45, don't miss the opportunity to stop and visit the Sam Houston Statue. I see lots of people who illegally stop on the side of the highway and snap a quick picture of Sam and move on their merry way. They have no idea what they are missing! The statue has a visitors center with folks that can give you the scoop on the artist and the particulars of the statue. They have clean bathrooms and the coolest of gift stores with everything Texas! There is a short walk throug the woods where you will see a bust of Sam's face, cross over a picture perfect bridge and finally you are at the 10 foot granite base of  "Big Sam."  Now ANYONE can take a shot of Sam from the highway, but it takes someone special to get a up close and personal ...

Some of you have met my mom from a previous post. In January she had a silent stroke that caused her to black out. She fell and broke her shoulder and hip. After surgery the doctor sent her to rehab at Ella Smither in Huntsville, Texas.  She was there for two months.  By the end of her stay, I knew the patients by name, how many kids they had, what they did for a living and their favorite treats! I grew to love each and every one of these ladies. Before mom left, we had ourselves a little girlfriend time! I brought my camera and my little bag of tricks--hats, scarves, etc.. Mom brought an Italian Cream Cheese Cake from Mayflower Bakery in Huntsville. Nothing but he best for our girls! I hope these pictures bring you half the pleasure I received from taking them. What a blessing!        ...

I took hundreds of photos of Bre and her friends before their prom. Some of the photos were formal and some were candid.  As I was driving away from the park, I saw her getting into her truck. I rolled down the window and shouted "Just one more!"  This is by far, not the best photo that I took of her that day, it is my favorite! It's Breanna in her flip flops (she never leaves home without them)... getting into her dually pickup truck ... heading to prom. ♥ Only in East Texas! ♥

Huntsville TX Realtor : Another Great Day has Begun ! Let's see--what do I like about mornings?  -the smell of freshly ground and brewed coffee -kisses from my puppino -and......you know I am really sleepy in the morning and , in general not so fond of them. But there was a morning recently that I really enjoyed.  And it was because I had worked all night and before I knew it--the sun was coming up.  One of my Facebook friends (actual friend and on Facebook) said "good morning."  And I thought, yes it is, this is a great morning.  I was fresh---mental acuity, not bad, pajamas, check, laptop, check--all seemed good and in order.  Everything for the perfect morning. So I mused about this new day, mine yours and ours...... Another day is set to begin, A new beginning, a "fresh 24,"an oppo...

What a Great Day it has been! The first day of summer and it was hot, hot, hot.  Wow, it has been SO busy.  Don't get me wrong, I am NOT complaining.  I have been working, working, working.  No, I don't have a VA (virtual assistant), and yes, I probably should have one, but I LOVE this business, and I love knowing the status os everything that is going on. I also love my garden.  you know, if you had asked me even 5 years ago if I saw myself writing and talking about my garden so much, I would have thought you were crazy.  I really love my garden.  It brings me joy.  We had 2 cucumbers and a yellow squash and 5 peppers ready to pick this evening.  And, the first grapes I've ever grown peeking their little heads out.   That is a good day. Enjoy your summer.  Enjoy every day of your life....

Huntsville TX Home for sale Huntsville TX Real Estate It's a wonderful time of year!  Spring has sprung, Summer officially begins tomorrow, however if you live in TX, the fact that summer hasn't really started yet is debateable at best.  Following is a market analysis showing properties that are "Option Pending" (OP) "Pending, Continue to Show" (PS), Pending (P), and Sold (S) in Walker County, TX from May 2010  As you can see some of these homes were on the market for a very brief duration and some, longer and some, a lot longer.  Mostly , as a result of overpricing.  When you overprice--you lose BIG in this market, both on sales price and days on market.  You can easily see the differences below and the advantages of pricing your home to sell according to the current market conditions....

Okay, I can't help it.  I am a porch fanatic.  We drove our Realtor nuts looking for the house with porches.   I wanted a covered place to sit out when it rained.  That's what my Mom and I did for years.  It was the best.  It's so peaceful--get the fans going, a good game of sudoku, or a good conversation, or just sitting and rocking.  I wanted porches--I got porches.  Life is good when you read the Sunday paper and have a cup of coffee on the porch.  It's also good for: Sunset Watchin' Coffee Drinkin' Conversatin' Chillin' Sudoku Playin' Wine sippin' Neighbor Visitin' .......and Rain Watchin' There's so much more to it, isn't there?  It's a throwback to the "old days."  It just feels right. What are your Favorite "Porch Settin' Activities?"

Huntsville TX : Come visit and "sit a spell " Huntsville TX is a city of about 35000 people.  It is home of Sam Houston State University, the fastest growing university in the state of Texas.  It is surrounded by the Sam Houston National Forest, situated about an hour north of Houston and 2.5 hours south of Dallas, Huntsville has a lot going for it: Huntsville State Park, great golf courses, a charming square with eclectic shops and eateries, and even a soda fountain!  The spirit of Huntsville hearkens back to a simpler time. A time when stopping by and visiting on a neighbors front porch was the evening's entertainment.  It is still a way of life here.  Sure, we've got a whole "college sports" fanaticism to tap into, and hustle and bustle can be created anywhere.  But if you just sit q...
