Swiss glaciers have recorded their worst melt in history, and this is leading to the recovery of bodies that have been buried in the ice for centuries. In June 2023, hikers on the Morteratsch Glacier in the Swiss Alps discovered the remains of a man who had been missing for over 70 years. The man, who has not been identified, was wearing clothing from the early 1950s and had a backpack with him that contained food and other personal belongings.This is not the first time that bodies have been found on Swiss glaciers as a result of the recent melt. In 2019, the remains of a woman who had been missing for over 50 years were found on the Aletsch Glacier.
