We have a scenic railroad corridor that runs for several miles.  The railroad has been closed for several years now.  There have been discussions in the past on converting it to a running, walking, bicycle path, which personally, I feel is a great idea!  The Town of Port Royal will be re-opening discussions surrounding this topic today. Part of the joy of living in Beaufort is all of the outdoor activities.  This would be an incredible addition to our community! If you would like information about real estate surrounding the railroad corridor, give Chris Skrip at RE/MAX Sea Island Realty a call.  We are a full service real estate agency, located in downtown Beaufort South Carolina. This is a great article written in the Beaufort Gazette about the Town of Port Royal adding moorings near 11th Street.  The Town of Port Royal is a boating community surrounded by lovely shops, restaurants, and The Sands Beach. http://www.beaufortgazette.com/local/story/490972.html The moorings should be a great addition to their waterfront.

Native plants are plants that have adapted to the geography, rainfall levels, and climate of a particular region. Native plants occur in communities, that is, they have evolved together with other plants. As a result, a community of native plants provides habitat for a variety of native wildlife species such as songbirds and butterflies. Who doesn't like those? The reason you might want to consider incorporating native plants into your landscape is that they provide a beautiful, hardy, drought resistant, low maintenance area to your landscape, while benefiting the environment.  And the environment needs all the help we can give it:) Native plants, once established, save time and money by eliminating or significantly reducing the need for fertilizers, pesticides, water, and lawnmowers.Wh...

Pets have an instinctive fear of new surroundings. Dogs and cats need time to get used to the new sights and smells associated with a new home and you will want to help them adjust quickly. You should keep your pet restricted until it realizes that this is the new home and the family is going to stay here. Otherwise it may wander off and try to return to your old home. This is especially true for cats, and they should be kept inside for several weeks. To help your pets feel at home, put their familiar food and water dishes, bed, and toys in the same location as they were in the old home, such as having the water dish by the back door, food dish in the kitchen, etc. You might want to check out this web site: PetsWelcome.com provides numerous tips on easing the stress of moving on all kind...

Nestles in the outskirts of Port Royal along the main thoroughfare of Parris Island Gateway (Highway 802), and beautifully tucked in behind commercial road frontage is a quaint waterfront community called Wright's Point Plantation.  Wright's Point captures the essence of the traditional Lowcountry feel.  This charming neighborhood is a true waterfront community graced with two-story Victorian style homes. The road is a mixture of tabby, oyster shells and asphalt.  The brick-lined sidewalks and walking trails are adorned with perpetually lighted gas lamps.  The sidewalks are pedestrian friendly where you can meet and greet your neighbors as you walk past their front yards.  These sidewalks lead to the gazebo in the park and to the community dock where you can fish, shrimp, crab or simply...

Port Royal was established in 1562 as one of the first French settlements on the east coast. It is located at the convergence of the Battery Creek River and the Beaufort River south of the town of Beaufort in the heart of the South Carolina Lowcountry.  The town is home to Marine Corps Recruit Depot, 6th Marine Corps District, Parris Island and Beaufort Naval Hospital.  In addition, the Marine Corps Air Station in Beaufort is just up the road a few miles, so there is a strong military presence here.  The town and the military enjoy a great close relationship.Port Royal is currently experiencing significant growth and revitalization to the traditional, historical, and mixed-use zones.  To get a great understanding of the development taking place you should see the history of Port Royal a...
