"A Step Back in Time" "A Step Back in Time" is what one experiences if they visit this year's Designer House. This is the name that has been given to this year's event.  Each year the largest fundraiser for the Charleston Symphony Orchestra is the Designer Showhouse.  This year's choice is an old historic home in downtown Charleston, SC at the corner of East Bay Street and George Street. Two real estate companies in Charleston have co-listed the property---Carriage Properties and Tyler Bergin of AgentOwned Realty. The historic home place consists of 5 houses over 3 parcels of land.   Tears for my Friends Today has been most stressful.  The tears have come from being so concerned about several of my family members (AgentOwned agent/owners).                                                           Today has left me to wonder why.  Why my office -- my little family of agents  -- why? OK, what I'm talking about is this: About 7 months ago, agent/owner Ernie had kidney cancer.  They removed a kidney and said they had "gotten it all".  After the surgery, he did great and was back up working and feeling good.  Then, about 2 months ago he was having problems with his stomach swelling so he went back to the doctor only to find out that his cancer had returned and this time in his stomach.  He has been in such bad shape -- is going thru chemo now -- he has 2 more treatment...

A woman was trying hard to get the catsup to come out of the bottle.     During her struggle the phone rang so she asked her four-year-old daughter to answer the phone.    "It's the minister, Mommy," the child said to her mother.    Then she added, "Mommy can't come to the phone right now.  She's hitting the bottle."   The AgentOwned Realty serves your real estate needs for: Charleston, Johns Island, James Island, Mt.   Don't Slam the Newbies for Ignorance    I have been reading a lot of blogs lately   about those in Active Rain who do not follow the rules.  The issue just may be that we don't really know the rules.  I have to admit to you that I am just still learning the rules. What is Localism and how do you post to it and what do you post there? Having been on AR since September, I did not really do anything with it until the end of January 2009 when Rebecca Levinson held a day long seminar on Social Internet Networking.  Rebecca inspired me to get out there. Thanks to Residential Mortgage of SC for hosting that day long event with Rebecca.     So, of course I know what the word localism means, but wasn't sure at all how to use it on Active Rain .  Only about 2 weeks ago did I really understand w...

84 Year Old Gets Ride of Her Life There is so much negative in the news and newspapers that most days I don't even want to look at the paper or listen to the news. But, today, in our paper there was an article about a 84 year old lady who received a most memorable birthday gift. The story goes that this lady had talked about an experience that she had as a teenager -- that was a ride on a motorcycle.  Apparently she talked of this often and for her entire life. Lung cancer has claimed most of her strength and a few strokes had robbed her mind of short-term memories. So, when her daughter was trying to come up with something for her birthday that was unique, she had the idea of getting her mother a ride on a motorcycle.  One big problem -- she didn't know anyone with a motorcycle.  She...

Want to Live? - Personal Story    Personal story for you ladies and men - this story has been told before, but I did not get many comments and it was back in Oct. 2008 when I was brand new to AR.  I felt inspired to tell it again after reading Judy Jennings' blog today. I feel that I would like to share with you the details of my cancer scare----so that it may help or save you or one of your loved ones. Although mammograms are very important - critical- they don't always find the "c" --- I had a suspicious spot on a mammogram which led to a needle biopsy which lead to a lumpectomy -- The result of the lumpectomy was that there was something suspicious on the very edge of what was taken out, so the surgeon wanted to go back and get a larger piece. My Husband, Boyd & I did not have to t...

MEASURING A FLAG POLE         Ray & Bubba ( Redneck mechanical engineers) were standing at the base of a flagpole, looking up. A blond haired woman walked by and asked what they were doing.   'We're supposed to find the height of the flagpole,' said Bubba, 'but we don't have a ladder.' The woman took a wrench from her purse, loosened a few bolts, and laid the pole down.  Then she took a tape measure from her pocket, took a measurement, announced, 'Eighteen feet, six inches,'  and walked away. Ray shook his head and laughed. 'Ain't that just like a dumb blonde woman! We ask for the height and she gives us the length!' Bubba and Ray are currently working for our government.      This joke was sent to my by one of my agents --- thanks Susie. The AgentOwned Realty serves your real estate ...
