South Island Plantation, hands down the most beautiful, mature, and viable new subdivision in Georgetown, SC is growing again! This time the growth will give owners direct water access on Winyah Bay via a marina, day docks and pier. Only South Island Plantation property owners will be allowed to purchase boat slips. These are among the closest boat slips to the Atlantic Ocean and are directly on a gorgeous stretch of the Intracoastal Waterway. With land prices as low as $9,900 buyers had better hurry.

Highly speculative neighborhoods caught in the beginning stages of development when 2007 rolled around, have been hit hard in the Myrtle Beach area.   Here is but one example of such a neighborhood – Harmony Township, in Georgetown, SC, a quaint, coastal town just South of Myrtle Beach.  Originally zoned for 1,700 lots, it now has about 30-50 Homes built over a fairly vast area.  You can see by the fancy signage and light posts that great intentions were in store for this subdivision.    Now, many of these gorgeous homes are vacant with “For Sale” signs out front.  Some of the homes are 70-80% complete and just rotting away from the elements.   Currently, the MLS displays eight listings - three of them appear to be normal listings; the rest are all distressed properties: two are sho...

Historic Georgetown is the third oldest City in SC. It is a Seaport that is a fisherman's dream! Be sure to visit the downtown area and take a stroll. Charming shops, art galleries and quaint shops, book stores, clothes, fine art, jewelry, crafts, cards and antiques. Don't miss dining at one of the fantastic restaurants, one of my favorites is the Rice Paddy at 732 Front Street. You might want to take a tour of the Museums the Kaminski House which is at one end of a Harbor walk you will not want to miss.and the Rice Museum on the other.  Or you could take trolley tour or a boat ride, there are many ways to explore the small city...   It is like taking a step back in time!   Wedgefield Plantation Golf Club is a jewel located at the southern end of the Grand Strand on what was once a flourishing rice plantation along the Black River in historic Georgetown. Wedgefield's fairways wind through stands of massive, moss-draped oaks, magnolias, dogwoods, flowering plants and wildlife. The course rewards a good shot, it is golf as it should be.

Every Saturday from late Spring through early Fall, farmers and vendors from the area converge on the Live Oak-shaded grassy patch of land on North Fraser Street that is the home of the Georgetown Farmers Market. The hours are 9AM through 1PM, but get there early for the best selections. Local favorites like raw peanuts, boiled peanuts, local shrimp, and fresh beets tend to run out before Noon. There are live performances on occasion and the atmosphere is casual and friendly. Terrific breads and pastries, smoked cheeses, fresh flowers, seafood, and the most incredible produce are just some of the treats in store for market shoppers. Meet old friends and make new ones at the Georgetown, S.C. Farmers Market. You'll wonder why you waited so long.

Morgan Park in Georgetown, S.C. consists of 10 acres, 70% of which is high ground and the remaining 30% is marshlands. Morgan Park is adjacent to the 53 acre East Bay Park that currently accommodates recreational fields and a boat ramp not to mention that it is a gorgeous waterfront location. Since the city announced that the recreational facilities will be moved and the boat ramp will be made obsolete by the new Campbell Marine Complex on the Sampit River, many people are wondering how the land will be used? Although Morgan Park can never be sold by the city, East Bay Park could be sold.  What happens to the land at East Bay Park will be decided by City Council after they hear input from the public and the Keep Georgetown Beautiful Committee. The accessibility and landscape of Mo...

Earlier this month there was a groundbreaking ceremony for a new Boat Landing on the Sampit River in Georgetown, S.C. The Landing will be named the Carroll Ashmore Campbell Marine Complex in honor of Carroll Campbell, South Carolina's Governor from 1987-1995. Carroll Campbell died in 2005 and is buried in Pawleys Island, S.C. The landing is scheduled to be complete in June 2009 and will feature six boat lanes for putting in and taking out boats and 200 public parking spaces. The need for this new marine complex was sparked by the increasing popularity of fishing. Increased boat traffic has made the current public landing at East Bay Park congested during the peak season. The Sampit River is freshwater at the location of the proposed landing just south of the Sylvan Rosen Bridge in the M...
