Humane Society of York County

The Humane Society of York County is a local, nonprofit, no-kill animal shelter located on RegentParkway just across from the old PTL property. Volunteering as a dog walker is something I did fairly regularly last summer and is something I’ve been meaning to add back into my weekly schedule. My son had expressed an interest in volunteering at the HSYC so together we attended the April volunteer orientation. The HSYC offers a volunteer orientation the first Saturday of every month and attendance at the orientation is required before you can volunteer. They welcome kids volunteering, but they are limited in their volunteer duties. Strawberry Season in Fort Mill, SC

One of the best things about living in Fort Mill, SC is the abundance of fresh, juicy strawberries this time of year. It just doesn'feel like spring has officially arrived until the first bucket of strawberries has been picked at Springs Farm. Due to the mild winter and early spring, strawberry season is in full swing a couple of weeks early this year. Springs Farm has pick your own strawberries available for $10 a gallon. If you want to pick your own, prepay at The Farm Stand at 1010 Springfield Parkway. The fields are just across the street. Hours for picking are 7am-6pm Mon-Sat and 1pm-6pm Sunday.
