The Myrtle Beach 1% Tourism tax has become the Carolina Forest Tourism Tax. The additional 1% Tourism Tax that the Town of Myrtle Beach approved was to be placed on the City of Myrtle Beach. The tax is improperly taxing the residents of Carolina Forest. Carolina Forest is located just outside the city limits of Myrtle Beach and is considered the unincorporated area of Horry County.  Carolina Forest does have a mailing address of Myrtle Beach but is not located in the city limits. When purchasing or moving into a home in Carolina Forest Myrtle Beach it is important the new resident verify they are not improperly taxed.
