Real Estate Activity in WilsonvilleIn the Last 3 Months The Real Estate Market in Wilsonville or anywhere else is not an easy market to predict, we have our highs and our lows.  There are periods of time where homes seem to sell better than other times, and it is a changing climate with lots of uncertainty of where we are.  Sometimes it is just a better guess than others, however, if a home is priced correctly for that market, has good curb appeal, in good repair, as updated as possible and clean plus staged to a certain degree, it has a good chance of selling within a reasonable amount of time for a good price.I have complied what has happened in the Wilsonville area, population approximately 20,000, in the last 3 months to give an idea of the real estate market where we live. Just goo...

Prepare Your Home For Winter  Preparing our home for winter is an annual thing here in the months of October and November before we get the freezing weather.  We have fairly mild temperatures in the Portland Metro Area, but we also get a couple of hard freezes every winter, lots of rain and some wind.  Taking the steps to winterize your home is necessary if you do not want frozen pipes, and other problems that may cause your heat bill to rise or other things like water leakage. Here are a few tips I gathered from the Better Homes and Gardens website to help you along. If you have a fireplace and it is wood, think about converting it to gas.  Wood burning fireplaces lose more energy than they produce. If you have a wood burning fireplace and plan on keeping it that way, have the chimney i...

A Prayer For The Coming Months A while back 2008, my oldest daughter asked me to send her a prayer for her and for her Family.  The following is the prayer I came up with in a quiet time and is the prayer I sent to her. Perhaps it may apply, especially in these days of uncertainty for you.  I ran across it in one of my journals and thought it may be a good thing to pass along.  I hope you think so too."May the Lord God light your hearts with his wisdom, love, energy, compassion and understanding.  May you pass it along to each other so it intermingles with your spirits and your hearts, and each of you in turn bring  something different to the table of your home, the fruits of your labors and the goodness of your food as you share your love with each other.  May the understanding that ea...

Exercising One's Right Being a American means many different things to everyone.  To me it means freedom, freedom to choose, freedom to speak, freedom to work at what I want.  Freedom to live where I want, freedom to live how I want.  It means to me that regardless of what color or race or creed I am, I am an American, first, last and always.  Even if one might not have been born here, that does not mean you are not an American, it only means you were not born here.   We are a fortunate people, a fortunate country and despite differences in politics, religion, or anything else we have all been given the gift of living in a free society, lets treasure it and do our part even if we do not agree with someone's politics, views, rules or regulations, that is part of the beauty of the gift of...

Preparing Your summer Yard for Winter In Wilsonville Mary's List of preparations Preparing your summer yard for winter in Wilsonville, with cooling temperatures, increasing rain, less pests, and an amazing display of color and then the falling leaves can be a huge undertaking.  Plants, shrubs and trees are changing their colors while readying themselves for winter and cold temperatures. Lawns need winter care and planning for this will help produce a Spring lawn that is great in color and healthiness.  When fall and winter begins sometimes it appears that the grass is dying, it is not really and may need some over seeding.  There are many different types of grasses and depending what you have planted will depend on what you do and how you care for it. Fertilize for winter to prepare for...

A Change Is In The Air A Change is in the air, yes indeed. Daylight Savings changing our internal and external clocks, Autumn and the changing colors, in my area, rain and gray skies from blue skies.  October is over and November is here, elections, Thanksgiving and then my favorite, Christmas will be in the air in all kinds of ways. The largest change for me, has been a change of Real Estate Companies and all that goes with it.  I was not unhappy with the company I have been with but when opportunity knocks at one's door sometimes it is best to answer it.  This is what has happened to me, opportunity, so yes Change is in the Air.  The things that have changed with this new adventure is the company name, address, and people.  What has not changed about me is my focus on clients, attent...

Wilsonville Public LibraryNovember 2012 ~ National Novel Writing MonthAmong so many other things available at the Library Beginning November 1 is the annual start of a month-long, international writing project, the National Novel Writing Month or Nanowrimo, which says write your novel of 50,000 words in 30 days.  Broken out that is around 1,667 words a day. From all of the articles I read on the internet, this sounds like a whole lot of fun if you have the time.  How many times have you said to yourself, I know I have a novel inside of me just waiting to get out, but somehow I am just not finding it.  Here is your chance. Also this week in the Wilsonville Public Library is the First Friday film featured November 2.  Latest releases, from blockbusters to independent films.  These films h...

Thankfulness Full time I was happy to read Joni Staples post on 30 days of being thankful and doing a post each day this November.  What a perfect reminder that each day, today, right now is all we have and we should be thankful for what we do have and not yearn and be  upset about what we do not have.Today, November 1, 2012 I have to say I am very thankful for many small things that have happened just this morning.  Reading Joni's post as a reminder to just "Be Thankful", and making up my mind that I need to do this and put it in writing as I do love to write is one of these "thankful moments".The other big thing, although some would think it was not so much, is that our two dogs have finally quieted down and I have some peace within my office so I am able to concentrate.  Great pals a...

Climbing Out of The Abyss Climbing Out of the Abyss, what does that mean?  Many things to many people would be my supposition, depending on where you are in life and what is happening around you.  Sometimes it is the abyss of time or perception of profound events that have happened in your life and the depth to which it has affected you and the ones around you.  Climbing Out of The Abyss sounds as though one might have been in a very negative place and situation, but I do not think it is necessarily that so much as it is a place where learning has taken place and one needed to be there for the lessons that were to be learned during that time.  Lessons pertaining to oneself would be my best guess and my experience.  I think sometimes we have to be in the moment of the lesson or the exper...

Who Is Packing Your Parachute? A long time ago I heard someone talk about parachutes but did not really pay too much attention to what it meant until recently. I read a true story of a soldier, a parachuter in Viet Nam, and his experiences. I thought about my own life and the different parts to it.  You know, the physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, and yes business.  Everyday someone packs your parachute for you and hopefully it is packed in a good way. The parachute is your security, and if you begin a free-fall, you need to be able to pull the rip cord and land safely or as safely as you can.  There are many people that pack your parachute each and every day, do you recognize them? My husband, for instance, packs mine with coffee and conversation in the early mornings where we s...

Good Things Do Happen on Fridays My Granddaughter works at Victoria Secret in a shopping Mall, Washington Square, in the Pinks Department and loves it.  She is a girl that is particular about her belongings and is usually focused in a good way. This has been her first week there and it has been hectic for both of us.  Mainly for me because right now I am her transportation both ways.  This will end soon when she gets her driver's permit next week and then her license.  Her plans are to purchase a car, old, new it does not matter, for transportation. Yesterday after work, for some reason, and she does not know when it happened, her wallet fell out of her purse in the mall or she set it down for some reason.  She got home and realized she did not have it, thought perhaps it might have fal...

Working with Buyers My By-Line Stands  Mary Stewart Sells Homes Not Houses   I love all aspects of Real Estate but mainly the people or clients I have had the pleasure of working with and for.  It is most rewarding to see the look on their faces when you hand them the keys to their new home.  Knowing that your buyers have just purchased the home they have been desiring is most rewarding.  When I first meet potential buyers, we sit down and have a get to know you moment. We talk about what their desires are for a new home, what are they looking for, really looking for.  It does change at times as they begin the search.  I listen and I hear with great intent, taking both mental and physical notes.  I pay attention to every detail. We then discuss finance, what do they think they can affor...

Do You Keep Your Focus?  I Thought I was Pretty Good At It Until.....   My Story.  You get a call from your client, you have been in a meeting, are in your car but bluetooth not on, you don't want to answer cell just yet and decide to return the call when you get back to your office within the half hour.  Your client has property she is hoping to see within a couple of hours, property is vacant and at this moment you have the time.  No problem.   You return the phone call, make arrangements to meet and call list agent to make sure all okay.  No problem.    You gather all necessary information, put it together, gather your cell and anything else you may need, oh yes don't forget your MLS key.  No problem, off you go.   You show the property, client likes but wants to think about it, and...

Arbor Crossing Neighborhood in Wilsonville Arbor Crossing neighborhood, another unique neighborhood on the East side of the City of Wilsonville, is located on Boeckman Road between Wilsonville Rd and Canyon Creek Rd.  Arbor Crossing is a stable neighborhood and does not have a lot of homes that come onto the market at any one time. This neighborhood is in close proximity to the downtown core area of Wilsonville, for convenient shopping or dining out.  Local businesses are abundant and offer easy access for groceries, restaurants, and your daily needs.   30 Days Of Hyperlocal Posts and A New Appreciation Of My Fair City Wilsonville, A City Of Trees The month of June presented itself with a challenge to do a Localism post about people, businesses, neighborhoods, in the City of Wilsonville highlighting what was happening in my town, one post per day.  I enjoyed meeting owners and staff from the different businesses I highlighted and interviewed, it was a great experience.  Some businesses I did slide videos on and some I did not, but let each business know afterwards that I had done a post about their business and sent them the link.  Hopefully each business gained some business from those people who perhaps were not previously aware of them. I also took the opportunity to highlight many neighborhoods hoping to bring awareness of the ne...
