Filling Up With FUEL New Jersey and Oregon do not allow people to pump their own gas. These states will ticket people that break the law and I have heard that fines can be $1,000. I suppose you should just relax and let the professionals do it. Back in 1951 the law was passed restricting people from pumping fuel at service stations.
