Not long ago, I asked Siri a question... What's the meaning of life?  She replied, "Life... is a Magazine."  Classic, I thought.    After the shits and giggles wore off, I started to reflect on her answer.  When I was young, my Mother used to share sugar over the fence post with her neighbors.  Now, we share life's happenings over Facebook and Twitter posts.  No difference I guess... but sometimes minus the sugar. Our viral conversations can be snippety snip and often contain a bite bigger than the neighborhood dog.  Would our parents have said such things over 'real' posts in years gone by?  I wonder. In a world where negativity runs rampant at the speed of light, a gracious word and kind deed stands out like honey to our lips.  Perhaps we can all make more of a concerted effort to share...

There's a new buzz on the street and it starts with Z.  Many of you may be noticing that your active listings on Zillow are no longer showing 'For Sale.'  If you haven't checked, you should.  The dark days of Zillow have begun.  Up until a few days ago, Zillow received their listing syndication feed from a portal called ListHub (which is owned by Move, Inc).  The two companies have been feuding and recently parted ways, leaving Zillow without a direct feed to listings.  As a result, many listings have gone 'dark' and are no longer showing up 'For Sale' on Zillow. Zillow has been negotiating with 850 MLS's across the country to secure a direct feed for listings.  Smaller MLS's may be last in line to secure a feed with Zillow, as larger MLS's are receiving top priority.  That said, you ma...

I read a quote from Mark Zuckerberg this morning.  When asked what he looks for when hiring a prospective employee, the brainchild responded, "I will only hire someone to work directly for me if I would work for that person."  Words of wisdom from a Millennial genius. Is there truth to... Great minds think alike?  Should we surround ourselves with brilliance?  People often say that if you're the smartest person in the room, you're in the wrong room.  My childhood mentor used to tell me that "Iron sharpens iron."  Nuggets of truth. In a recent MLS class, a group of newbie Realtors fired off questions in usual fashion, which I had no trouble answering.  But then, I was hit with a few zingers that I hadn't encountered before.  In that moment, I recognized some brilliant souls in the room. ...

Do you find yourself juggling a boatload of tasks that only YOU have the expertise in handling?  Just when you think you have one problem solved, you jump into the ring to conquer another contender.  Exhausted and overwhelmed from the constant barrage of peeps pulling at your coattails, you begin to conjure up imaginary thoughts of running away to a deserted tropical island.  Does this sound like you?  If so, you're not alone. Entrepreneurs are not only doers... they're dreamers too.  We start off with grandiose ideas that lead us down the yellow brick road in search of the magic kingdom and its mysterious wizard.  No one tells us about the tripping hazards along the way.  Maybe we skipped that class or we just weren't listening.  Yes it's true, entrepreneurs can have thick heads too.  ...

I watched a YouTube video interview of one of my favorite musicians, Ed Sheeran, and I was intrigued by his incredibly kind and humble demeanor.  When asked about the origin of his good nature, he responded, "I have good parents."   A lovely answer, and one that caused me to reflect upon life in general.  Recently, our Southern Oregon real estate community lost another beloved soul.  It's no surprise that Realtor Jolie Johnson's sudden and unexpected death has generated an outpouring of love on Facebook.    I was touched by a common thread of adjectives used to describe her... "she was kind, loving, and a gentle spirit."  Her colleague's admiration for her speaks volumes to a life well lived.  It's obvious that love emanated from her veins.    When it comes right down to it, and the f...

Today, I looked up into the heavens and said... Yes, there is a God!  With little time to spare, but plenty of fret to waste, we held our breath as I presented our 5th written offer for my clients.  For a moment, I felt like Moses pleading with God... Please don't let my people be homeless! With just three days left before my clients had to move out of their home, and three rejected offers under our belt, things were not looking good.  Panic started to set in.  So, I did what any good Realtor would do... I started to pray (in the shower... LOL). God... we need a newer 4 bedroom home, on a large lot, that's move-in ready.  And oh, it must be vacant, and the owner must be willing to allow early occupancy so my clients can move in asap.  Is that too much to ask... God? The next day, a hous...

Many have asked why I chose the pen name... The Naked Blogger.  Especially since I'm a relatively conservative gal who's pretty much chosen the straight and narrow path through life... accompanied by a trusted moral compass.  So what's all the fuss about The Naked Blogger?   When I was in the sixth grade, I dabbled in a game or two of Truth or Dare.  Every time someone asked... Truth or Dare, I waited with eager anticipation to hear the answer.  The risky behavior that sometimes followed filled me with curiosity.  However, my fascination for the game quickly ended when I accepted a dare that sent me to the closet with a boy I didn't like.  Awkward for sure, but a useful lesson in teaching me to make wiser choices.      Truth is...  getting naked doesn't have to be awkward.  Inhibition o...

There's something incredibly appealing about being called gorgeous.  Even if one isn't gorgeous, being called gorgeous might make one revel the thought (even for a moment).  Recently, I had one of those moments. It's been a long and physically taxing week to say the least.  I staged and listed two homes, attended one signing, celebrated one closing, minus one hour of sleep thanks to Daylight Savings.  If you know me well, you know I cherish my zzzzz's. My feet felt like I'd walked a thousand miles barefoot over burning coals, and my legs gave way to jello.  But, who needs a reason to play?!  Not this girl.  I drove 30 miles along a scenic stretch of Interstate 5 in the Pacific Northwest from Grants Pass to Medford, Oregon.  My car instinctively knew the route to Mellelo Coffee Roasters....

Domestic Violence Awareness Month evolved from the first Day of Unity observed in October, 1981 by the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The intent was to connect battered women’s advocates across the nation who were working to end violence against women and their children. The Day of Unity soon became a special week when a range of activities were conducted at the local, state, and national levels. These activities were as varied and diverse as the program sponsors but had common themes: mourning those who have died because of domestic violence, celebrating those who have survived, and connecting those who work to end violence. In October 1987, the first Domestic Violence Awareness Month was observed. That same year the first national toll-free hotline was begun. In 1989 t...

The following information is what the "seller says": We love the small town feel of Medford, with a larger town feel!  Lots of outdoor things to do like golfing at Centenial, skiing at Mt. Ashland, ice skating at the RRink, boating at Stewart State Park.  We've love salmon fishing the world famous Rogue River or rafting with some of the great rafting companies during the summer, or hunting in the nearby hills outside of Prospect.  Don't miss a hike to the Table Rocks or Roxy Ann to take in the view of all of Southern Oregon. Medford has some great restaurants, especially if you like ethnic foods: El Arrieto for Mexican food, King Wah & Silver Dragon are some of our favorites. Our favorite grocery shopping places are Winco (they have great fresh produce) & Costco when you want some lar...
