People can be so territorial.  In some ways, being protective can be a good thing, like when neighbors put up fences to keep their pets and children safe within their own yard.  There's nothing offensive about that.      I live in a small town where people are still kind and civil to one another.  It's like the good ole' days when neighbors shared milk and sugar over the fence post.  Yep, those were happy days.  However, even in a small town, people can act like dogs pissing on a fire hydrant, staking their claim and protecting their territory.Recently, I procured a sizeable sale in the next County over.  As part of my due diligence, I called my 'local' Title Company to request a profile of the property, which includes basic tax info, plat map, aerial photo, etc.  The Title Co. I typica...

You Are Going to Thank Me For This Recommendation! If you are ever in Del Norte or Curry County and want pizza, Zola's has the best pizza in both county's in my opinion. Zola's is a quick drive up Highway 101 to the Port of Brookings. It's a tiny place with art drawn by grateful patrons covering the walls and has a wall full of some tasty beers that changes from week to week. Here is what their Facebook page says: Oregon Coast - just off 101 FIRE Oven cooked Pizza....Killer Breadsticks with any topping... Ridiculous Wings Sauced after cooking.... Fresh Salads..Caesar or Garden.... PASTA Bowls cooked in the FIRE...Free WiFi...Great Vibe...Yum. https://www.facebook.com/zolaspizza I almost always order the Caeser Saled and Chipotle Barbecued Chicken Wings cooked in the Fire Oven, yum! Summer of Salmon - On the Oregon Coast.  Southern Oregon's recreational ocean fleet could see a full summer of salmon fishing under proposals crafted Thursday to take advantage of better offshore salmon abundance this year. The Pacific Fishery Management Council unveiled a set of options for this summer's season that includes the potential of chinook salmon fishing starting before Memorial Day and lasting until after Labor Day off the Southern Oregon and Northern California coasts. Together, this year's options detail a summer ocean season for recreational anglers that's longer than any since 2007 and far more expansive than last year's token chinook season around Labor Day.  So get out your fishing poles, because the Summer of Salmon is fast approaching on the Oregon Coast!

It's a Beary Sad Day in Brookings, Oregon.  It was a sad day in Brookings Tuesday - the  day they took the bears away.  Residents and visitors alike have fallen in love with the 25 colorfully-painted bear statues since their arrival three months ago at various outdoor locations in downtown Brookings.  Obviously the feelings are mutual, evidenced by the makeshift signs that mysteriously appeared on the bears during the final weekend. The signs included heartfelt messages such as: • "Don't you bear take us away" • "There must be a bear clause that says we can stay" • "We bearly got to know you" • "I'm hybearating here. Leave me alone" • "Brookings will be bruined without us" • "Chetco Ave. will be bear without us" The pleas fell on deaf ears Tuesday morning as Grants Pass Evergreen Federa...

Last Weekend wrapped up Brookings~Harbor Children's Theater's production of Disney's Beauty & The Beast. I was overwhelmed with the support from the community towards their children. All shows last weekend were sold out! I heard one comment from someone in the audience...."Did they bring an actress from Disneyland to play the part of Belle? She sounds just like the Belle from the movie!" There were over 50 cast members ranging in age from 5 to 70 something! The costumes were fabulous and the energy unbelievable! All the hard work paid off with a spectacular performance! Enjoy the photos!               Town Scene                                                       Crazy Maurice's Invention               Belle, will you marry meeeee?                              Silly Girls love Gaston!...

If you are seeking solace in an incredibly gorgeous surrounding, Harris State Beach just north of Brookings Oregon is the place for you. Harris Beach is just a little over 2 hours from Medford Oregon, yet it is a world away.   Do you like to explore Tide Pools?      Hike through the forests bordering the ocean?   Walk along the beach?     Watch the sunset over the Pacific Ocean?   My family loves this quiet, well groomed campground with beautiful spaces arranged to gain the most privacy for each one - enough to break a rule we have of always trying to see somewhere new on our RV excursions! Harris State Beach was just the ticket for us this incredible autumn weekend.  Off season at Harris State Beach is wonderful, and with the crowds gone it felt like it was just us and the wildlife.   ...

Sporthaven Beach Sunset ~  Brookings, Oregon Sporthaven Beach is situated between the ocean and the harbor of Brookings, Oregon. The surfing is good here and there are ample parking spots that are located right along the beach. A local favorite, this area is a great place to watch the beach activities during the summer from the comfort of your own car. In winter, it also gives people front seats to watch the winter storms come ashore without having to get wet! __________________________________________________________________________________________________ Click here to view full gallery:  Brookings Oregon Photo Gallery Photo of the Week I Photo of the Week II Photo of the Week III   If you or someone that you know is thinking about buyer or selling on the Southern Oregon Coast, cont...

Fall Colors on the Chetco River ~ Brookings, Oregon The Chetco River begins in the rugged, isolated terrain of the Kalmiopsis Wilderness and makes its way down to the Pacific, separating the towns of Brookings and Harbor. Almost all the river is located in the Siskiyou National Forest, except for the lower 5 miles. In winter, salmon and steelhead fishing are the primary recreational uses. In summer, fishing, swimming, boating, camping, and picnicking are the major attractions. The river features many vehicle-friendly gravel bars that extend along several sections of the river of which are a popular destination for locals during the summertime to swim, camp, barbeque, and lounge in the sun along the beauty of the crystal-clear waters. ___________________________________________________...

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words....What better way to show off the beauty of the Southern Oregon Coast than through a photo blog! As a Brookings native and a local Realtor, I find myself attempting to accurately describe the beauty of our area to visitors.  Time and time again, I feel that even after living here for nearly 30 years, I am not able to find the words to describe it with justice.  I have come to the conclusion that not even the most masterful poet could find the words to fully illustrate the beauty of the Southern Oregon Coast. This will be the first of a weekly series of photos that I have taken to provide a guided tour through the wonderful community that I am proud to call home.    ________________________________________________________________________...
