Not So Speechless SundayI recently returned to my home after almost 7 1/2 years.  One thing and another and then covid and travel restrictions and I finally had a few days and drove 13 hours to go home.  I have missed it, I didn't really realize how much until I got there.  There is a peace in my soul now that was missing and I have plans to return in June next year.  In case you are wondering, this is Lake Nipissing near Callander, Ontario.  Lake Nipissing is the largest freshwater lake in North America outside the Great Lakes.I can't wait to go back next June!!

Sometimes you have to look back and remember the great times, relaxing by the lake, enjoying the company of family, listening to the sound of the waves lapping at the rocks on the shore.  The lonesome call of loons in the morning and evening.  Then get back to work so you can do it again next year!!

The New Year has arrived and Christmas 2009 has become a not quite faded  memory.  With no snow in sight for Christmas here in Oakville,  our family decided to head north to Parry Sound, Ontario to find some white stuff. We weren't disappointed as there was lots of snow to be found.  On Christmas day though, the rain came.  The temperature rose above the freezing mark and the snow disappeared from the surface of Otter Lake, exposing the smooth ice. As you can see by the photo below Santa did find us, and an enjoyable Christmas holiday was enjoyed by all. Ice Hockey Anyone ? Snow Cone Parry Sound Harbour - Lookout Tower Parry Sound Pier

As fate would have it, I had the unique opportunity to be at a meeting in downtown Ottawa about a kilometre up the street from Parliament Hill. Unfortunately, when President Barak Obama’s motorcade passed by our hotel we’re were in a windowless conference room within the confines of the building and missed the event (although I probably would not have really missed much).   Read the entire blog post at www.aboutparrysound.com

The Parry Sound real estate market has exceeded most people's expectations, and although total unit sales are down from the previous year, the downturn is not as pronounced as in other cottage markets (Muskoka and Haliburton, for example). For people looking to sell their Parry Sound area home or cottage, proper pricing is more important than ever.  While we have yet to see enough sales to accurately measure a trend, prices are definitely softening and I feel this will continue for at least the next six months. As many economists are predicting mortgage rates to remain stable or edge lower, we are seeing some of the best buying opportunities in years. Listing inventories remain higher than normal giving buyers plenty of inventory to choose from. Overall, the situation the U.S. housing m...
