Huntsville, Ontario - Who Is The Man In The Picture? The Reveal In My Post Who Is The Man In The Picture? with this week end being the 25 Annual Uxbridge Studio Tour I thought it might be fitting to see if any one could tell me who this man is and where this likeness can be found. Ontario has a rich artistic historyof which this man is a part. You will find his paintings in art galleries museums, and private collections. His work has been displayed in the National Gallery Of Canada. His paintings have fetched over a million dollars at auction. Tom Thomson August 5, 1877 - July 8, 1917 He Spent A lot of time in Algonquin Park in central and north central Ontario . He painted for about 1/6 of his life and only 3 Years full time. What A Screech You could hear him from a good distance away. While nocturnal by nature he was about to take flight in broad daylight. He had stayed cooped up in this tiny little hidy hole long enough. It was time to go , to move on to bigger and better things. You first met this little guy in a post Empty Nest Syndrome as this little owlet was just getting ready to leave the nest. This tree had been home for his siblings for several years as his parents had nested in this tree for some time. This tall maple tree along with many others in the area were becoming a threat to human habitation in the area. The centre of the trees were decaying and a good wind would snap them like toothpicks so they had to come down. The decision was made and the trees started to fall. We arrived at our summe...

The G8 Summit 2010 is being hosted at the Deerhurst Resort, Huntsville, Muskoka, Ontario, Canada in June. This is going to be an exciting venture for my area, as we proudly give our hospitality to 8 great nations: Canada, United Kingdom, United States, Italy, France, Russia, Germany, and Japan. Previous hosting locations have shown a proven advantage to the event in their areas. Worldwide awareness will increase for Muskoka, and tourism is expected to boost in the short-term. Businesses will profit, and local accommodations are in high demand. Once people see the beauty that Muskoka has to offer, then an increase in home sales should follow. I predict a great 2010 through to 2011 for our area. If only based on this upcoming event, I opt for optimism! I will post a detailed report on the...

With picture perfect weather we have just had one of the best weekends on record for the summer.   All is quite now, as the sun very slowly settles and softly dips behind the hills, as we enjoy one last sunset sitting on the beach in Muskoka. The rainy weather of the early weeks of summer have faded into fond memories of a time of watching the children frolic in the water, a time of relaxation, a time of rejuvenation and expectation, and preparation. The Labour Day week end is the signal that summer is drawing to a close. It heralds the end of the Canadian National Exhibition and a reminder that fall is not too far away. For some it means the end of summer jobs and preparing for the return to school for others, who live in the country as we do, it  is a reminder of a longer trip to work...
