by Warren McNeil The Elmira Maple Syrup Festival is just around the corner.  In just 2 short weeks Elmira will host 1000s of people at the single largest one day festival of its kind. There is so much to see and do. Sugar bush tours, pancakes, taffy pulling, antique and toy shows and a huge pedestrian mall on Arthur St. Food galore. Come hungry leave stuffed!! By Warren McNeil, Where does the term "Life is Sweeter in Elmira" come from? I can't verify it exactly but I will say that I believe it comes from the "Elmira Maple Syrup Festival". I have lived in Elmira for about 9 years now and I can say that life is definitely sweeter here. If you are looking for a place to settle down and raise a family, this is the place to be. Elmira is a small town of about 12,000 people according to census data in 2006 (source Wikipedia). There are a variety of different home types and developments. If you are looking for new construction or resale houses Elmira has lots of choice. The average house price is somewhere around $290,000-300,000.
