Yep, it's that simple.Pretty cool really, especially for the techie geeks like me. I did it and it worked perfectly (see the screenshot below). Just text “where” to 30644. (You can also text “donde” to get your answer in Spanish.) The system, which is free, will reply, asking for your home address. Give it to them, and it’ll send back your polling location. If you want more specifics, just check out this post by FastCompany.

While your thoughts of real estate may have mostly related to haunted houses during October, Edmond real estate chugged right along.  We saw many new listings both big and small.  We saw new listings go under contract in just days and one sell after years on the market.  Grab a few pieces of the kids Halloween candy (I won't tell), and I'll fill you in on what you might of missed.During October 2010 in Edmond (remember for our purposes, Edmond is defined as being within the boundaries of Edmond Public Schools), 273 homes were listed.  Of those, 32 are already under contract.  Among those currently available, the average list price is $263,217 and the average size is 2518 square feet.  The biggest home listed is 7340 square feet.  It has five bedrooms and four and a half bathrooms with s...

Have you noticed that there aren't as many "For Rent" signs in your Edmond neighborhood as there used to be?  That may be because rental properties are at a premium in our area right now.  There are a variety of reasons that people are opting to rent over buy.  Some are relocating and have a house to sell outside of Oklahoma.  Some do not meet the current lending standards to qualify for a mortgage.  Some are in transition and need short term housing.  Whatever the reason, more people seem to be choosing to rent.I specialize in helping people buy and sell homes in Oklahoma.  But recently, I helped someone with a rental.  Here is what I learned in the process; Because rentals are at a premium, the landlord/property owner is in the driver's seat.  If you do not rent the house, someone els...

Today I went on a walking tour of The Trails South in Edmond.  This neighborhood is located near the CENTURY 21 Goodyear Green Edmond office (off Santa Fe north of 15th).  So, we were delivering invitations to our upcoming Chili Cook off and Silent Auction fundraiser for Easter Seals. Now, I have shown plenty of homes in this Edmond neighborhood.  Both of my girls have had friends that lived there.  So, this was not my first visit to The Trails South.  But, it was my first time to enjoy a walking tour on a fall day!  My first impression was that this is a very cute area.  Most of the homes we saw were very well maintained and decorated for fall and Halloween.  I had the chance to meet a few homeowners as they were taking care of their lawn or heading out the door.  Everyone greeted me wi...

One of my favorite Edmond neighborhoods is Forest Oaks.  In the ever popular east Edmond, Forest Oaks is soundly established with most homes built between 1978 and 1988.  The neighborhood is well designed with winding streets, creeks, and towering trees.  The location of the neighborhood is awesome!  It's just south of 15th street off of Bryant.  So, it's an easy commute to I-35 or the turnpike.  For fun, Hafer Park, Pelican Bay, and Spring Creek are all within walking distance.I have always been drawn to the homes on Ridgecrest Road.  These homes are set back on their lots with a creek bed running through the front.  Most of the homes have lovely bridges that lead visitors over the creek and to the home entrance.  Yesterday, I had the opportunity to tour a home on Ridgecrest.  It was t...

Rose Creek September 2010 Real Estate Market Update Active Listings: 23 Pending Sales: 5 Sold August: 0 On a positive note, inventory in Rose Creek is working its way down. The absorption rate clearly indicates that it’s a buyers market still. The 5 pending homes are nice to have, but none closed in August is a little disconcerting. As an Edmond Realtor, I see plenty of houses.  Most of the homes that I tour, I see with a client while searching for homes.  But I do try to preview other homes available on my own to stay informed about the inventory currently available.  Yesterday, I previewed three vacant houses in an Edmond neighborhood.  It was a neighborhood with new homes in the popular price range of $225,000-$250,000.When I was selecting the homes to tour in my targeted subdivision I searched specifically for vacant homes (I did not want to disturb homeowners without a specific buyer in mind) and price (I only wanted to tour homes in the price range that is selling in Edmond right now).  While a prospective buyer would read the details of the listing and check out all the pictures on the MLS, I did not.I toure...

September was a quiet month for real estate in Edmond's Park Lane Estates.  During September 2010, two homeowners listed their property for sale.  The two new listings bring the total number of available homes (defined as listed in the Oklahoma City MLS) currently listed to nine.  The average list price is $154,388 after 71 days on the market.  Most of the listings have had a reduction in price during that time.In September there were no closed transactions or offers accepted by homeowners in Park Lane Estates. With a good selection of homes and low interest rates, this is a great opportunity for buyers considering a move into Park Lane Estates.  For more information about any of the homes currently available, give me a call at the CENTURY 21 Goodyear Green office.  Our number is 405-359...

It's not a new concept, at least for those who've lived overseas, but it seems to be a growing trend here in the U.S. these days. Conserving space and expenses is a pretty foreign thought process for most of us who've spent our lives living "the Oklahoma way," but could it be the future, as development costs continue to rise? If it is, creativity will be key in maximizing small spaces. Check out this plan for a 500 square-foot VERY chic and surprisingly well-planned studio. **Originally posted on our Facebook Page, where you'll find out more about Oklahoma City, Edmond, Moore, and beyond.

The latest Boots on the Ground Tour takes us to Edmond's Stonebrook at Coffee Creek.  The Stonebrook addition is on the southeast side of the popular Coffee Creek community.  Coffee Creek is one of my favorite areas in Edmond.  Whenever I am giving Edmond newcomers a tour, I try to include this area.  In this community, it is not uncommon to see folks out walking their dogs and kiddos riding their bikes.  The streets meander and curve through the different neighborhoods.  I think it's a very well planned development.First the basic information you will want to know about the area.  Coffee Creek is off of Kelly between Covell and Coffee Creek.  Stonebrook is best accessed from the Covell side of the community.  Students in the area attend school at John Ross Elementary, Cheyenne Middle S...

Coffee Creek September 2010 Real Estate Market Report Active Listings: 13 Under Contract: 1 Sold August 2010 : 3 This was a surprise. Out of the 10 areas I regularly track statistics, Coffee Creek was second only to The Village in being in Seller’s Market territory. This bucks the trend for similar neighborhoods to Coffee Creek. Congratulations! Coffee Creek Homes For Sale Originally posted on okchomesellers.com

What a treat I had today.  I toured three homes in the Rustling Hills addition in Edmond.  As soon as we entered the neighborhood I was taken with the mature trees.  I can only imagine how beautiful it will be a few weeks when the leaves begin to turn.  I also liked that the homes set back quite a bit on the lots.  This gave a very open feel to the area as we drove through. As always, let's staty with the basic information.  Priced in the popular $200-300K price range, Rustling Hills is located in Edmond off North Bryant between Coffee Creek and Sorghum Mill Roads.  Most of the homes were built in the late 1970's and early 1980's.  They average around 3000 square feet and sit on between 1 and 2 acre lots.  Kiddos in the neighborhood attend school at Edmond's newest elementary school, Cen...
