The only Worthington grocery store today is the Kroger at Worthington Square.  The only grocery store in the City of Worthington anyway. Hot dog here's an old ad for Home Market a Worthington grocery store.  What a find a 1940 ad according to Don O'Brien who shared the ad (wrapping material) via his Flickr stream... Mr. O'Brien grew up in Worthington and has fabulous, "Old Worthington" photos on Flickr. Not Old Worthington like the neighborhood exactly but photos of what that neighborhood was like in the late 1930's and into the 1940's. That really was the Village of Worthington... at that point. He also has photos of the Worthington area back in the 1930's and 1940's too. Some of those unincorporated areas are now the City of Worthington.   130 W. Wilson Bridge Road was out in the country. Don O'Brien sent me a link to his father's journal online a few months ago when I asked some questions about some of his old photos of Worthington on Flickr. Mr. O'Brien grew up in the Worthington area and was one heck of a photographer even as a kid. I understood from reading parts of his father's journal the family  lived in Sharon Township but I was thinking of off Flint Road, or the Park Road area or out near Lazelle Road, out in the boonies.  I can conceive of the whole Crosswoods area having been unincorporated.  A friend shocked me once telling me she lived where Crosswoods is now when she first moved to Central Ohio. View Larger Map  Worthington Woods is a subdivision of single family homes in the city of Columbus, north of 270 in the Worthington School District.   A Worthington Woods  Map  centered on Placid Street, the other streets in Worthington Woods are Serenity, Tranquil, Clement, Cortina Ct, and Bella. Hmmm  I don't know that I knew that Pacific Court was also Worthington Woods.  Pacific Ct is west of Worthington Galena Road.   The rest of the subdivision streets are east of Worthington Galena Road. The homes in the Worthington Woods neighborhood were built in the 1980's primarily. There are nearby Condominiums that share the Worthington Woods name as well... lots of them.  I think having the same name is the extent of the relationship at this point in the game. The Deercreek subdivision is off Park Road in northern Franklin County just west of I-71,  if you go across the highway you will be in the City of Westerville.  The Deercreek neighborhoods are in the City of Columbus in the Worthington area. The oldest single family homes in the Deercreek subdivision seem to be from 1979.  There is a mixture of home styles and builders in Deercreek.  There are some Romanelli and Hughes homes,  Grisez homes (The Grisez  family was from the Canton area... records show Grisez Bros. Grisez Brothers. ) There is more variety in Deercreek than in many neighborhoods in the Far North Area of Columbus. Village at Worthington is a neighborhood in the Far North area of Columbus, north of the north outerbelt and south of the Franklin Delaware county line.  The neighborhood built in the 1980's is in Franklin County.  The ZIP code for the addresses in Village at Worthington is 43235, the West Worthington ZIP code.   The neighborhood is south east of the intersection of Flint Road and Park Rd.  The entrances to the neighborhood are Leaview Drive off Park Road or Brownsfell Drive off of Flint Road.    View Larger Map   The homes in the Village at Worthington neighborhood are in the City of Columbus and the Worthington School Disctrict.  The Central Ohio school district boundaries pre-existed the land being annexed to the City of Columbus and developed. Worthington Estates is one of the biggest residential neigborhoods in the City of Worthington I believe.  It is one of the most desirable Worthington neighborhoods for families with children because: there are families with children the size of the homes walk to schools access to the bike trails and park I think... Located just west of High Street, between High Street and the Olentangy River with the Olentangy Hills neighborhood to the north and the Worthingway neighborhood to the south. Most of the Worthington Estates homes were built in the 1960's.  The floor plans are pretty predictable.  Most are two stories... there are one story homes with a handful of bilevels, cape cods, split levels (had to rack my brain to remember a Worthington Estates split level....) Worthington School News this morning in the Columbus Dispatch I heard it on the local TV news so Googled for the story...  The City of Worthington paid for crossing guards inside the city of Worthington at elementary schools but that expense is being shifted to the Worthington School Disctrict. In the article  written by Ann Fisher of the Columbus Dispatch: Worthington schools taxpayers will now pay crossing guards "Previously, Worthington schools had chipped in about $7,500 for the in-city guards and also paid $33,000 for three other guards for elementary schools - Bluffsview, Liberty and Slate Hill - that are outside the city."   Worthington Hills is a popular neighborhood in northern Franklin County. The homes built around the Worthington Hills golf course and the Worthington Hills County Club are sometimes dated.  Other homes have been updated a time or two.... you just never know until you look at a home... A buyer inquiring about a home used the phrase "Time Warp" on a call.  The agent in my office shared the story telling us about the property...
