Saturday my family participated in an outreach event to help some folks in Miami Township Ohio to have a great Saturday.. First, we met at our church (Rivertree) in Milford to pray, pack and prepare for the event.  This event was a Block Party for an apartment complex in the area.  Once we got there we divided up the work in teams and everyone pitched in.  We grilled hot dogs, hamburgers, had chips, cookies, drinks and other snacks.  Another set of volunteers prepared a table full of free toys to hand out  to the kids.  Another group organized a face painting booth while others cleaned the tennis court that we were holding the event in.  There were probably about 75 volunteers total including kids and adults.  About 100 residents came out to participate in the event.  We just gave every... 10/14/2009

On Saturday I had the privilege of going to an outreach event with my family in support of those less fortunate in Over the Rhine, Ohio, a part of downtown Cincinnati Ohio that has received its fair share of bad press over the years.  The event started at 11am and offered the community a block party atmosphere and a chance to get some free food, toys for the kids, bags of groceries, clothing, treats and more.  We also had set up about 15 sets of corn hole boards, crochet, and places to sit and eat.  Our volunteers cooked about 500 hamburgers and hot dogs, passed out chips and sweets, bottled water and cool aid. Milford Ohio is an eastern suburb of Greater Cincinnati, Ohio and is in Clermont County Ohio.  There are many ways to get there from downtown Cincinnati including a highway route from I-471 to I-275 or I-71 North to I-275 South.  You can also take the old state route 50 that goes right through downtown and connects all the way to Milford and beyond.  This road is similar to that of RT 66 as it connects Washington DC and the Capital buildings all the way to California.  There is some interesting history here on Rt 50.  It is really neat that I live right off of this road about 1 mile. If you are anthing like me, you appreciate a good deal-especially when you are taking the kids for a night out. Eating out can be expensive for a large family, so here is some news that just might be music to your ears. Last week, we took the kids out for the evening. First, we took them to pet the farm animals in Anderson, and then, we took them out to eat at IHOP in Miami Township. I had the pleasure of trying a new deli/ restaurant/ carry out this week.  After an afternoon game of tennis at a Miami Township park down the street some friends of mine recommended a small lunch spot that they had become very fond of called Miami Market.  They had been there several times and highly recommended the lunch specials.  Upon first glance I had remembered driving by the place a couple of times a week since I can remember driving but never stopped in.  I always thought it was just a beer and wine carry out type of place.  Once inside I found a few small tables and saw that they had outdoor patio furniture for dining outside.  The place was hopping at lunch. I have been bringing my 2 boys to the School of Little Fish on Old 28 in Miami Township, Clermont County Ohio, (Milford area of Greater Cincinnati East) for about 9 months now and have been very pleased with their progress. They now know several moves, routines and how to defend themselves.  They also have learned how to count to ten in Korean.  The tuition is affordable and Master Tuttle works with each child and helps them grow at their own pace.  My boys are 2, 5 and 7 and the 5 and 7 year old have both earned Green Belts so far.  My two year old usually occupies his time checking out the fish tanks, turtle and Iguana that are there while his older brothers spend about one hour punching, kicking and learning different routines for the next belt.  I would recommend the service to anyo... 04/02/2009

Someone once said if you are struggling in your market, create a new one!  Well, that is just what I am attempting to do tomorrow.  Our market in the Greater Cincinnati area has been slow the last year like most in the country.  I have always wondered if there was a way to network in church without the other members thinking I was selling Amway....
