Looking for a different style of new construction low maintenance living in northern Cincinnati?  M/I Homes Lifestyle series of low maintenance homes in Daventry at Summit Park in Blue Ash are NOT like other low maintenance living homes in the area.M/I Homes low maintenance homes are similar to patio homes in that they're low maintenance in both building materials and the fact that the HOA mows the grass, takes care of the snow and does the basic landscaping.  But that's about where the similarity ends. The low maintenance homes in Daventry at Summit Park are similar to the low maintenance homes M/I Homes built in Mason's Alverta and to future homes in The Enclave at Carriage Hill in Liberty Township.  So the biggest differences?  Instead of ranch homes, expect two story homes AND rear l...

Great Traditions' luxury Blue Ash Ohio patio home community The Retreat at Summit Park has entered Phase 2!  It's taken over 2 years to sell the majority of the Phase 1 lots, but that's not a surprise when you factor in the typical sales prices.Great Traditions builds LUXURY patio homes, so that means prices are not cheap.  In fact, we've watched them climb significantly.  When The Retreat at Summit Park first opened, you could build their smallest patio home plan for right at $500,000 give or take a bit depending on options.  Two years later the same floor plan STARTS at $570,000.  And while a Great Traditions patio home is nicely appointed even at the base level, most people will add to the home and push the price over $600,000.  The other four available floor plans also start either ...

Most times when builders offer maintenance free living, their offering is patio homes.  Ranch homes with nice upgrades.  But sometimes, builders break from the typical and that's the case with M/I Homes offering of Ashby Village in Daventry at Summit Park.Instead, what is being offered in this Blue Ash community is NOT the typical.  No, instead of all ranch homes, Ashby Village has 7 floor plans, ALL of which are two story.  Four of the seven offer first floor masters.  The other major difference from patio home living?  The garages are attached to the rear of the home.Another major difference?  These aren't small homes.  The SMALLEST is just a bit over 3,000 square feet.  Typical plans are 3-4 bedrooms, plenty of bathroom, and lot of extra. The community is part of the former Blue Ash A...

Blue Ash's Mo's Marathon:  Our Favorite Auto Mechanics Ask most people what service field selection gives them the most apprehension and we'd bet auto mechanics is near the top of the list!  Once upon a time if you had some wrenches, screwdrivers and a good hammer you could probably fix just about anything on your car.  Those days are long gone for most of us, and turning over a big part of our lives (and an open checkbook) makes us nervous. We used to feel that way too, but about 15 years ago one of Bill's co-workers recommended a local independent garage just around the corner from his day job in Blue Ash.  Mo's Marathon has been our trusted source for auto repairs ever since!  A cool thing about Mo's?  You know the phrase "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."?  That's the way they opera...

Paying It Forward:  Another Trip to Blue Ash's Hoxworth Blood Center Time flies when you're busy!  Another 8 weeks, so Monday was time to get a pint lighter and visit the local blood center in Blue Ash on Kenwood Road! Hoxworth Blood Centers serve 32 community hospitals in a 17 county area centered on Cincinnati.  To meet their daily demands, they need a MINIMUM of 350 whole blood (that's what I do) and 40 platelet donors.  That's DAILY.  That's a LOT of blood, and a lot of need. That kid in the bad car wreck, the parent undergoing treatments, it can all hit home pretty quick.  One in 20 individuals will need blood given to them at some point in their life.  We know everyone can't give, and we understand that!  But if you ARE eligible to give, PLEASE make the time!  You literally may be...

Paying It Forward:  Another Pint the Day AFTER St. Patty's Day! You may want to go have another pint, or maybe you had a few too many yesterday and the LAST thing you want is another drop of the stuff! But my pint, it's a little different than what you had yesterday.  It's something we've all got to have to keep going, something we're all equally in need of to survive:  blood! Today was time for another visit to our local Hoxworth blood center, my usual place on Kenwood Road.  An hour of time door to door and Jim was there again too!  Unfortunately today was a bit more pressed for time, so didn't get to "stick" around and have a long conversation today, perhaps in 8 weeks when it's time to give again!  Again, these folks are pros!  Another painless needle entry, first try plugged right ...

Fooled you, this ISN'T about wine, it's about something FAR more valuable than any vintage wine, it's a real life saving liquid, the most precious on earth!!  Blood, we've ALL got to have it! For those of you that have been following us for some time, you know that I am a regular blood donor.  It's been a lifelong habit since I was a senior in high school in a time long ago and a land far away :)  30 years of giving a little back. Yesterday was time to drop off another pint at the local blood donation center, Hoxworth Blood Center.  Click HERE for their official website.  They've got branches all over the Cincinnati area, and have just recently moved their Blue Ash facility from Hunt Road to Kenwood Road (just across from Qdoba's north of downtown Blue Ash....a few short blocks north of...
