Who doesn't enjoy a day at the park? Silver Lake Park is located on the north shore of Staten Island. If you need an outdoor getaway, there are all kinds of things to do here! Located in the center of the park is a good sized lake. Trails go all the way around the lake for running and walking. It is one of my favorite places to run on Staten Island. You are away from traffic and the scenery is lovely. How far of a run is one circuit around Silver Lake Park? One complete loop around (lower trail) is about 1.6 miles. My typical target distance is 5K so I do a double loop. You can get creative with running the upper and lower trails, crossing the mid-lake pedestrian bridge, etc to make your course interesting and challenging. For those that want to do some cycling or roller blading. Since C...

The 109th annual Travis 4th of July Parade attracted people to celebrate the Independence Day in Staten Island, Richmond Borough of New York City. The Travis Parade is probably one of the oldest consecutive parades in the United States of America. This parade is fun for kids too, with clowns, funny car, water spray from fire trucks.

Shopping center from Melohn Properties faced strong opposition from elected officials  A rendering of Riverside Galleria in Staten Island   Melohn Properties has withdrawn plans for its Riverside Galleria project in the face of opposition from elected officials.   The Staten Island shopping center would have spanned 475,000 square feet and included a waterfront promenade, a movie theater and restaurants with outdoor dining, according to the Staten Island Advance. Borough President James Oddo and Council Member Joseph Borelli pulled their support for the idea last year largely because of the traffic plan, and Melohn withdrew its application following this.   STUDIO V Architecture is designing the project, and company founder Jay Valgora told the Advance the company is looking into other ...

The Staten Island Ferry is one of the last remaining vestiges of an entire ferry system in New York City that transported people between Manhattan and its future boroughs long before any bridges were built. The Staten Island Ferry provides free ferry service between St. George on Staten Island and Whitehall Street in lower Manhattan. As a long time resident of Staten Island, I would highly recommend buying a home in Pleasant Plains. This neighborhood lies on the south shore of the island, bordered by Prince’s Bay to the east and Tottenville to the southwest. Many of these homes were built in the 20th century, and we also feature a bunch built during recent years. Whatever your budget and preferences are, you can trust me, Fred Herman, to find the perfect one for you! A Wide Selection of Homes to Meet Your Needs Are you looking for a large family home? Or a smaller, more modest one? Take a look at our listings and tell me if something catches your eye! Our more expensive homes range from about $1,000,000 to 1,800,000. Many houses here are built with gorgeous red brick walls that would captivate you right from the sta...
