A few weeks ago, as I drove down a local street, a deer ran into the truck I was driving. As you can see from the photos below, the passenger side was damaged. After contacting my insurance company, and getting a recommendation for an auto repair shop from my normal mechanic, I called Woodcock Auto Body in Washingtonville NY.   To say my experience with Woodcock was amazing is an understatement. They answered their phones, were friendly, knew the answers to all my questions, walked me through the insurance process, and did a fantastic job in repairing the vehicle. The Monroe, NY real estate results are available for July 2019.  The number of monthly sales increased while sales prices and available inventory decreased. Following is an overview of the July 2019 Monroe NY results. Sales VolumeIn the month of July 2019, there were 20 single family home sales which was a 10% increase over June. However, July's results continue the recent trend of sales that are lower than the same month last year.  That being said, there are currently 76 homes under contract which is 40% more than the same time last month. There are 37 homes currently under contract with more than half going under contract prior to March. We recently decided to update our kitchen, specifically to replace the 30 year old cabinets and counters with new ones. As can be seen by the photo, both were definitely outdated and in danger of falling apart. (Seriously, the laminate was peeling off in places and the cabinets were separating!) So rather than embark on a do-it-yourself process which we typically do, we decided to find a contractor to help with the cabinets and the counters. We were hoping that would be quicker than doing it ourselves. And to be honest, thinking of not having the full use of my kitchen for an extended period of time made me a bit cranky. The Monroe, NY real estate results are available for February 2019.  The number of monthly sales decreased from the previous month, available inventory decreased and sales prices increased. Following is an overview of the February 2019 Monroe NY results. Sales Volume In the month of February 2019, there were 14 single family home sales. This number was less than the January results, but that is typical February behavior. That being said, February 2019 sales were 40% higher than last February, so this year is definitely starting off stronger than 2018. Many sellers believe they should put their home on the market in the April/May timeframe. That's when the snow has melted, the grass is green, and flowers start "springing" up! So isn't that the best time to sell? Anytime of the year is a good time to sell, if you need to do so. But if you have the luxury of selecting any month you want, why would you want to sell in the winter month of February? The first reason is that inventory is usually at its lowest level, and competition is scarce.  As you can see from the above chart, as of February 15, 2019, the number of single family homes in Monroe NY is 77. In the winter in Orange County NY, the wind howls, the ground may be covered with ice and snow, but that doesn't mean you have to stay in! If you're willing to warm your car up, get bundled up, and go out, there's plenty to do. This week, the Orange-Ulster Boces adult and continuing education brochure ended up in my mail box. I idly glanced through past the health career, trades and occupational training programs. I kept flipping until, screech!, I saw the Culinary classes! There are some that are focused on food handlers. I skipped those. Then the baking classes. There is a baking "boot camp," cake decorating, sugar cookies, and icing related classes.
