I have been living here in Nyack for over 25 years, and have often heard the term Rivertowns used to refer to our little area by the banks of the Hudson. So what exactly does the term refer to? After consulting numerous sources I have an answer. The Rivertowns are a group of villages and towns located on the western banks of the Hudson River. They include Nyack, South Nyack, Upper Nyack, Central Nyack, Palisades, Sneden’s Landing, Piermont, Upper Grandview, and Grand View. We are located only 20 minutes north of Manhattan, but you feel like you are in a New England fishing village when you are in the Rivertowns. If you are looking for a simpler, less harried existence, and still desire proximity to New York City the Rivertowns are definitely for you.
