Real estate in Red Hook Real estate in Red Hook during April saw an increase in sales over last year same time.  Last year there were 2 sales both in the 300's and this year there were 5 sales of which 4 were below the 300's and one in the 800's.    The average sale price last year of $347,500  which was higher than  the average sale price of $318,000 this year, despite the sale for $815,000 being included in this April's sales. There were 18 homes listed in Red Hook during April, the least expensive was $180,000 and the highest $995,000.  A third of the homes listed were over 500,000. Two homes that received offers were both in the 200's. The same was true of homes that went into contract; all 3 homes were in the 200's.   Today while holding a Broker's Open House I spotted a gate across the street.   I was intrigued, for some reason I thought something was out of place.  When I had the chance, I decided to take a closer look and I soon figure out  that this was a gate with no fence.  Yes you could go on either side of the fence and access the property.   05/22/2013

Dogwoods in Bloom I love this time of year, the variety of blooming plants gives me something interesting to look at each day. The dogwoods are now in bloom, and it is such a pleasure  to see the white petals from my office window.  I hope they stick around for a while. The Old Dutch Garden Club Plant Sale will be on Friday May 17th at the Memorial Garden in the Village of Red Hook.  This plant sale is very popular and most of the plants are purchased within the first hour. Plants for the sale are provided by members of the club; these are plants from their individual gardens.  The plants are offered at a very reasonable price. The money raised from the sale is put to good use, you will notice the beautiful garden in Memorial Park.  The club also offer a scholarship yearly to a Red Hook High School student. The weather on Saturday was just perfect so I spent time cleaning up some of the garden beds,  I also stopped to take a few shots of the Pumonaria on a hillside, and then this bee came along.  I watched it move from Pulmomaria flower to flower and then I thought this bee on the Pulmonaria flowers was worth capturing. Organic Pest Control On Thursday February 14th the Old Dutch Village Garden Club will be holding the monthly meeting which is on the second Thursday of each month. Red Hook Home for sale|237 Rockefeller Ln,Red Hook NY 12571 I have a showing scheduled for tomorrow at 237 Rockefeller Lane, so I stopped by late this afternoon to make sure the long driveway was okay to drive on. While I was there I couldn't help enjoying the lovely winter scene.  The snow covering the 9.86 acres and the lovely Catskill Mountains in the background. Chive a touch of color During the spring and summer I love to take photographs of flowers in my garden for these moments because I love a bit of color on a cold winter day, in this case provided by an herb plant the Chive. This little chive plant was fighting for some space between an iris and a primrose.  I like the way the very green leaves framed the small flowers from the chive plant.
