As I am writing this I am reading social media posts from people at our event.  All had a great time and are glad that we are back in action again.  Tonight I met people who have been members for a year but have never been to event in person; only on Zoom. What fun it was.  I made so many connections with people and people were asking for my card. ( I don't like to just give it to them.)  These pictures were taken at the beginning of the event.  It was packed with over 150 people.  What I hoped to show in this picture was the line for the bar.  Never saw one that long and that is because the hospitality industry is still very understaffed. But line or no line this was simply a great event and everyone was glad to be back.If you are looking to make your Westchester NY or Fairfield CT busin...

A wonderful annual tradition, New Rochelle's "Paine to Pain Half Marathon" organized by the New Ro Runners.  So named as Thomas Paine used to live in New Rochelle,  and the race starts close to the Thomas Paine Museum and Cottage near Paine Avenue. Not for the feint of heart as the trail is tough, but everyone of the 700+ runners were all winners today for the 10th Annual race. There was a descendant of Thomas Paine who raced, a blind racer (yet undaunted and so admired), so many wonderful racers who faced a little rain to participate this morning.  There were 5 'waves' depending upon capability - but ALL were so capable.  Eric Turkewitz,  the race founder was on hand, the many  volunteers of course and other race directors, along with the Mayor of New Rochelle, the Fife and Drum corp o...

If you have ever frequented one of the  beach clubs that are situated along Davenport Road, then you will have surely noticed Davenport Park.  20 tranquil acres, and  featuring a Shakespeare garden and accommodates seasonal sled riding! Perfect!  A valid omnicard is required. There are also some very special trees within the park.  Thirteen trees were planted by the George Washington Bicentennial Commission of New Rochelle in honor of the Thirteen Colonies of the United States of America on May 5th, 1932.New Rochelle is GREAT!

I recently  had lunch at the North End Tavern (located at 1301 North Avenue).  While my sons have frequented the tavern, I hadn't gone there and had no idea what to expect. It is advertised as a sports bar, and there are certainly  large sized screens around the bar and in the dining area. There is also a  semi-private room that can be booked for large gatherings if desired.I was so pleasantly surprised!  I was truly expecting tavern (bar) fare, and my fish and  sweet potato chips were delicious. The fish was crisp, moist, and the sweet potato fries were not greasy at all.  I will definitely be returning as the menu  looks quite interesting and the food was served beautifully. The tavern is open 12-9 p.m. Monday to Thursday, 12-11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 12 to 9 p.m. on Sunday...

It is always great to learn about what is happening in our great city. City?  Mr. Luiz Aragon Commissioner of Development spoke yesterday (September 15th, 2017) at  the New Rochelle Public Library to the League of Women Voters of New Rochelle.  Mr. Aragon stated that we are a 'village trapped in a city' and I think that is so true.Mr. Aragon stated that in order to bring productive retail stores into the city, there must be a larger and better walking accessibility too. With no easy access, how can restaurants survive? retail stores thrive?  It was determined that there is the need to bring  more people to New Rochelle in order to realize our great potential  and become the vibrant city we all know it is.In the past, the city 'rolled out the red carpet' to businesses  so they would come...

Sometimes, a customer or client will ask me what the difference between the two is. Obviously, one is for the agents and one is for the public, but what else? It is very important that the agents preview as many properties as possible so they can speak intelligently about their area. When they know the homes they can better advise their customers and clients on either listing prices or a possible bid, and quite simply, whenever we view a listing, it many times allows us to think of someone that house might just "suit!" I have walked into a home so many times, and thought of someone to send that listing to, and obviously, when I do send the listing, I can describe in detail what I saw and why I would think they would like the home. There are always many brokers' open houses scheduled in t...

Cities and towns that are privileged ( to my way of thinking) offer Historic areas, and New Rochelle is no exception.  Recognized as being an Historic Distoric back in 1986, the residents have long known and appreciated what the area has to offer. New Rochelle, home of the Huguenots (French Protestants) after they fled France is no different.Imagine a water-fronted area (Davenport Neck), where glacial grooves can still be seen on the rocks, part of the Manhattan Schist formation. The grooves used...

Back in 2012, I had written an article about Rochelle Heights and how the original turn of the Century  homes were built and sold all between $3-5000. The roads were originally private, and there gas lights (of course!), but with right of way,  etc. , all of that slowly changed. The majestic  Colonial, Victorian, Queen Anne, Antebellum Mansion style homes bespoke elegance, quality craftsmanship, and the area was known as 'the' place to sojourn to from the busy city life.http://www.newrochelleny.com/DocumentCenter/Home/View/361Funnily enough, i...

!  As  featured in the local paper today, Francesco Notaristefano has been named Coach of the Year of the Section 1 Class AA conference 1 League B following a 11-4-1 second place finish in the league. Mr. Notaristefano took over the 12-14 coaching position of the  12-14 year old girl’s varsity team in 2013, and hasn’t looked back. The coach applauds the team, the boy’s soccer team who attend the home games, and the great support of the community. That is what also makes New Rochelle great. We have a wonderful community.  Our schools offer great educational programs, we are close to the city, and we have wonderful beach clubs, a club for runners (which also benefits the community) and a dog park too! When a friend asked me to help support her daughter’s travel soccer team last year (The ...

Wygagyl Park is an extremely desirous area in which to reside. Many homes cost well over One Million Dollars, and upwards to 2 Million Dollars. So, when a home enters the market in the $700-800,000 range, it basically ‘pops’ out! 15 Carlisle Road was a 4 bedroom Cape Code (meaning 2 bedrooms on the first floor, and 2 bedrooms on the second floor) 2420 square foot home located on 0.028 of an acre. Typical homes in the same 10804 zip code were selling for far less, but this home’s location enabled the seller to obtain a higher sales point of $770,000.  Children in this area attend the  award winning William B. Ward Elementary School   New Rochelle, a great city-  full of history, and so close to New York City!   New Rochelle is GREAT!
