Photos for the 2014 Half Ironman in Montauk NY My husband Rob and our friend Marcia along with a few hundred athletes competed in the 2014 Half Ironman in Montauk NY on Sunday, September 28th. My husband has competed in many triathlons, marathons, and other running races, but the Montauk Half Ironman is a different world. The training is intense which requires many months and hours of dedicated training. The swim is 1.2 miles, the bike is 56 miles and the run is 13.1 miles which is a half marathon. Athletes had to complete in eight hours or less or would be disqualified. The swim was in Fort Pond which is a very large lake and most times, very calm. The water was calm for the race, but cold. Montauk NY Vacation Photos You never know how much you need a vacation until you go on one. I was turnip brain for a week and loved it. Had to deal with some offers on a listing and an offer with 2 buyers while away but that is the name of the game when you are a real estate agent. You really can't leave people flat. We stayed at the Daunt's Albatross East. The owners are very nice people and on Friday they gave us a wonderful continental breakfast. Daunts Albatross has a courtyard with tables and grills for you to use at your leisure. It's That Time Of Year Again! Yep. That's right. It's that time of year again and I'm looking forward to it. It's vacation time and we're going to Montauk Point, NY! Montauk Point NY is literally The End of Long Island. I've been going there since I'm little with my parents. My husband who runs and does Triathlons, belongs to the Massapequa Road Runners Club. Every year, a small group of us from the club go to Montauk. They all run together early in the morning and even do their traditional ice cream run in the afternoon to Gosman's Dock. Not me. I do not run. Not even for ice cream. I'll drive thank you very much, lol. A Montauk Vacation That Is Needed So here we are, in Montauk Point, NY. From us it's about 80 miles East of West Babylon. I've taken pictures here and there but will take more as the week goes on. You sometimes do not realize how much you need a vacation until you get one. We are staying at the Ocean Beach Resort that has a pool with a retractable roof. If it's raining, you can still swim. We have an ocean front room and at night it's very peaceful hearing the waves. Last night we lit a fire on the beach just like many others did. I was able to take pictures of that also. We went around town yesterday looking for those free vacation magazines to start our fire. Right now, my son and his step-father rode their bikes to Gossman's Dock to get ice cream. Hi Everyone,Well, Spring has Sprung and we are starting to see more activity here in Montauk.  This year like most, the Spring arrives late in April.  The ocean keeps the cool breezes coming in until June.  Once again it is time to get the new dump sticker and bring out the lawn furniture.  This year my nephew will be graduating from High School, and I will asses  the tuition for my three children for post secondary school for the fall.  All of these good and not as good items keeps me balanced.  Here is to a new Spring! 04/25/2008

 Christmas was wonderful and I was blessed o have my family together.  My children wanted to stay in Montauk for the holidays and enjoy the home we have here.  I did enjoy getting feedback from others on my first entry on Active Rain, I hope to get better as I investigate the sites that were forwarded to me.  In the meantime, I want to chat about things that happen out here on the east end of new york.  It is a great place to raise kids because of all the nature and unspoiled town.  The real estate market never really went soft out here, the way it may have because of mortgage problems.  It has maintained its ability to be a great investment.
