UNCLE!!! I give up - I give in - I have had enough!! We are on the tail end of our 3rd snow storm in February, thank goodness the month is just about over. A third snow day from school, a third day of customer cancelling appointments, a third day of shovelling. Good thing about being a Realtor is that I can work from the comfort of my home. I made my calls, checked on my deals, and worked on confirming a closing for next week. In between I asked  myself why I live here. Whon on Long Island, why in the Five Towns of all places? Why not live somewhere warmer - somewhere snow does not happen. I came to realize that I love the change of seasons, I love being near NYC, I love being 5 minutes from the beach, I love being near my parents.   My children got a great public education and made so...

A few weeks ago my son asked me to go shopping with him for a gold locket for his girlfriend's birthday. We have many jewelry stores in our local area and decided to start with them and stay away from the chain retailerss in the malls. We started in Cedarhurst with Anna Ks - lots of funky jewelry, very helpful, but alas, no lockets. We moved up Central Avenue to Jewelery Showroom. They had none in stock, but were very helpful as well, offering to order one that would be in in time for her birthday. He was not 100% comfortable with picking from a catalog, so we held that idea in reserve in case we didn't find anything else. Then it hit me - DUH! Hewlett Jewelers. Nice store, very helpful, I had purchased some pieces there previously. So we get in the car and go on to Hewlett. They actual...

YUM YUM YUM A new Chinese takeoout place opened in the Fortunoff's shopping center in Hewlett, LI, New York a few weeks. I though ho hum - just what we need here, ANOTHER Chinese Takeout - this makes 4 on a 5 block stretch of Broadway. Then I heard the owner used to be the guy who did my nails at a naail salon up the road. I had shown him homes a while back. So we tried it. WOW!!! It rivals food I have had in Chinatown. One dish was better than the last. Most Chinese takeouts have the same menu. He has the same menu PLUS Chinese Specialties that you don't get anywhere else locally. Everything was tasty, fresh and prepared perfectly. Looking for Dinner tonight? Look no further than MING HING - 1305 Broadway, Hewlett, NY (516) 792-5768 Ask for Steve and tell him you read about it on Donna...
