Thankful Thursday: It's a Beautiful Life by Feng Shui Manhattan NY This has been a devastating start to the week for many but you should be thankful. Why? Because on some level you have grown or you are about to.  Unfortunately, for many it takes a great disaster or loss for use to be thankful and progress in life. It becomes a true reminder with all that we are blessed with. We all have struggles in our lives to some degree and the repeating lesson, learning to Just Let Go.  But, during times like this you can look inward and refocus your attention on what matters.  To many of us disregard the simplicity of life.  If you have been blessed and spared with Hurricane Sandy, offer a helping hand to friends, family and others in need.  The core essence of humans is to help each other progre...

Brooklyn Architecture produces Beautiful Energy in the Neighborhood After a Feng Shui consultation in Brooklyn New York I decided to drive around and check out the local neighborhood.  I could not believe my eyes when driving off the the main busy streets of Brooklyn to see beautiful Colonial and Victorian styled homes. The colors painted onto the houses were amazing and made me smile the way during my small personal tour inside this hidden treasure of Brooklyn NY. This particular location has captured a piece of history in Brooklyn's time.  Not only that, it shows if the local congress comity, State heads and community pulled together, everyone can benefit from living in a beautiful energy filled neighbored.  Feng Shui 101: Before moving into a new home, apartment or business check out...

This morning, I got the great pleasure in participating in the Tunnel to Towers Run. WOW was it amazing ... if you haven't done it, you should. Red, white and blue flooded the streets and tunnel of Brooklyn and New York City. It was a purely amazing experience to see. People young and old were part of the crowd of 30,000+ people but what was most amazing to see was all of the firefighters and first responders from all around the country and world running in their full gear! These amazing people were FOLLOWING THE FOOTSTEPS ... This was truly an emotional experience ... As we went halfway through the tunnel we were all being asked to move to one side. Little did I know there was a Triple amputee Wounded Warrior getting out of his wheelchair to walk the rest of the tunnel with us ...

Lucky Cat Pow-wow by Feng Shui Consultant Laura Cerrano The other day I heard great news from a recent Brooklyn NY client about a huge career change.  In a playful way my client asked if I could have a lucky cat pow-wow.  I took his written intention placed inside a red envelope, placed a candle (to help ignite his vision) and some sage to help carry out his intentions to the universe and placed on top of the red envelope.  All four lucky cats represent all 4 directions and each one beckoning in his intention for success Wishing him the best of luck!        Feng Shui LI *Carole Provenzale was a Certified Feng Shui Consultant who graduated from the Country's very first School for Feng Shui Studies that was licensed and accredited in 1997. By Luke Constantino Every time I go into Brooklyn Heights or Manhattan I’m surrounded by either a Starbucks or some little café selling some foo foo  vente’ chai latte half calf with hazel nut moco garbage. I think I need “The Idiots Guide on how to buy Coffee “here. My friends seem to enjoy buying this stuff, and I always ask “What did you get?” They always give me some description of their coffee that is in 3 different languages and is topped with something that should be on ice cream. I always answer “You didn’t get sprinkles with that?” laugh, and walk away. I’m sorry, I’m a real New Yorker, born and raised. My coffee comes in a paper cup that says “We Are Happy To Serve You”. "Coffee black", or “Regular” which is universally known to be with a little sugar and cream. Since I was a ...

     1.      Plug up any holes. Use foam and caulking to seal any cracks where drafts or summer heat are getting into your Brooklyn home.   2.      Close blinds.  Close your drapes and blinds during the day to keep the sun and heat from getting in. This will cool the house down naturally and take the strain off the central air conditioning unit.   3.      Clean filters. Clean or replace your a/c filters once a month to allow proper airflow through the system.   4.      Install a Programmable Thermostat. Install a programmable thermostat to keep utility costs down by raising the temperature a few degrees during the day while no one is home, and lowering it just before family returns.   5.      Unplug electronic devices. Either unplug electronic devices when not in use or turn them off by...

If you are looking for a Brooklyn home to rent, there is a Craigslist scam that you need to be aware of. This fraud is happening all across the country. No town or city is off limits.   How the Scam Works  Scammersare finding houses listed for sale and posting them on Craigslist as homes for rent. They take the pictures posted online of the home for sale, all the home listing information and post it as a rental.   When you send them an email asking to see the home, they tell you they are out of town working and that you can drive by the home to see it. They will also tell you that there may be a For Sale sign in the yard and to just ignore that.  If you tell them you want to rent the Brooklyn home, they ask you to fill out an application via email and include all your personal infor...

Have Patience when working with Feng Shui by Laura Cerrano The principles of Feng Shui and spirituality are so interesting and when blended together can be amazing.  For those who have a background of wholistic practices, they already have began the development of a fundamental understanding with how to read energy depending on their discipline.  When they encounter the teachings of Feng shui they are able to grasp the principles and put them into practice with a bit more ease compared to those who are completely unfamiliar. When implementing Feng Shui into your lifestyle, please remember the process in its own right is unique.  The principles say to put your intentions out there and make the changes (80% mental ad 20% psychical, meaning taking action).  If you approach this process wit...

Where do I start? Do I need a lawyer? Who do I tell my house is for sale?     There are a million questions that go through someone’s mind when they are getting ready to sell their house/property and there are very few property owners who can answer all of them. This is why the majority of home owners seek out an experienced Realtor.   HOW MUCH IS MY PROPERTY WORTH?   Everyone has an opinion or an aunt who is “in real estate” who says your house is worth X amount “and you shouldn’t take a penny less!!!”  But in reality, every property is different.  There are different factors that make the same house/property right next to each other worth more or less. An experienced Realtor can determine what your property is worth primarily with a CMA (Comparable Market Analysis)   CMA: Most of your...

Like any commodity, you’re going to make money if you buy Brooklyn real estate when prices are low and sell when prices are high. So why haven’t you, and millions of others like you, bought a home during the major downturn in the real estate market? When pushed for an answer, many potential buyers respond that they’re afraid, unsure or allowing their emotions to guide them. They’re worried that Brooklyn real estate prices will see another huge drop. Or they’re unsure if prices have reached rock bottom so they can get the very lowest price possible.Stop allowing your emotions to guide you. Face the facts. The real estate market is steadily improving. Those low prices are gradually moving higher and higher. It’s time to get off the fence and buy while real estate prices are still low. Then...

Choosing the right Brooklyn real estate agent is one of the most important decisions you’ll make when selling your home. After all, he or she will be your representative to potential buyers, and the one deciding how best to market your home. Below are eight questions to ask before signing on the dotted line:  1.      How long have you been in the business? While it’s nice to find someone who has many years of professional experience, don’t automatically reject a new agent who might have more time and energy. 2.      What’s the average length of time it takes you to sell a home? A well-qualified Brooklyn real estate agent should be able to answer that question and back it up with statistics. 3.      What is your average ratio of list price to sales price? If he or she consistently se...
