Travel with Carolyn: Historic Haddonfield New Jersey  Last week,  I traveled with some friends to visit Haddonfield, NJ, for their Holiday House Tour.  Our first stop was the historic Indian King Tavern,  which was the site of a 1777 meeting of theNew Jersey General Assembly that officially ratified the Declaration of Independence and adopted its Great Seal. It was the first State of New Jersey Historic Site, adopted as such in 1903.   Its original structure remains largely intact. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Along with the Williamsburg-type “bar” with bars to safely lock in the spirits (left, below), they had re-created an eating area with built in booths (the one on the right is original, the other is a  copy). If you have never visited this town across...

Ah, to be a kid again... at that age, no worries in the world. I just hope they have a great place to grow up to in the near future... As some of you know, my sister has 3 boys and 3 girls. Meet the youngest, Joey and Ava, who are twins. They turn 3 years of age on April 11th, 4 days before my birthday. (hint hint.. lol) My sister has a baby sitter that helps out during some of the weekends, where she would take the twins out for a full day of activities. They went to a zoo the other day and got their faces painted. At times, I wish I could freeze these two precious little ones at the age of 2 1/2. Maybe for like 3 years? So much fun and so cute... but I don't think my sister would enjoy that for most of the time, since they can be a handful at times.   In any case, as I mentione...

DO YOU NEED TO SELL YOUR HOME?  TIRED OF INTERVIEWING AGENTS THAT JUST WANT TO LIST YOUR HOME, BUT NOT MARKET YOUR HOME? The 1st point I must make is, do not hire a Realtor who works another job to supplement their income! Would you use a doctor or attorney that needed a part time job? I wouldn't. I have made this my full time career for 10 years and have consistantly ranked as a Top Producer. 2009 Janet Larsen ranked in the top 50 in the State of NJ Remax Agents. 2003-2009 NJ Association of Realtors Circle of Excellence Award Winner and 2005-2009 Remax 100% Club Award Winner. I have listened to many homeowners that continually tell me they wish they had called me 1st instead of going though 1-3 other Realtors and wasting 6 months to 3 years trying to sell their homes that I have sold i...

Outside my house....  it snowed last night and this morning... we got 3 to 4"... it stopped by 11 am.  We were suppose to get rain, but it only rained very lightly around 3 pm for 30 minutes. We then got an inch of sleet for an hour around 6:30 pm and then changed over to all snow.  As you can see, it's snowing hard now. It's suppose to stop by 4 am. Total accumulations 6-10 inches... I'll probably see 8 inches by morning, plus the 3" from this morning.   Read my blog post that I did earlier today. Wordless Wednesdays - Let it Snow Let it Snow I talked about how it must be nice to have a job to where you could be 50/50 and still have a job and get paid.                               Morning snowfall in Haddonfield, New Jersey to where we got about 3 to 4 inches.

Wouldn't you like to have a job to where you could be wrong 50% of the time and still get paid?   In the beginning of the winter season, one of Philadelphia's meteorologists, Hurricane Schwartz, said that we will be slightly below our normal snowfall. This area's normal snowfall is about 17 inches a year. Well, year-to-date, we have received about 20 inches already which about another 6 to 8 inches tonight. Here is are the local weather forecasts for the year, by weather station. 2010 - 2011 weather forecasts As you can see, Hurricane Schwartz has revived his forecast as of January 5th. ~ Update ~   For those that know me, I love my summers and winters. I loved last year when we received a record snowfall of like 73 inches. This morning, we received about 3 - 4 inches and are expecti...

For those that read some of my posts about my nieces and nephews, you know that my sister has 6 kids... 3 boys and 3 girls, and that 3 of them are adopted. Here are Joey & Ava playing dress up. They are the youngest, twins, who will be 3 years old in April. My sister has someone that helps out so often during the month, taking the twins on little mini trips.             Here is Ava, Alisha, and Joey.  It's tough for Alisha at times, because she is the 4th member of the family and doesn't always fit in with her older brothers and sister, so she likes hanging out with the twins and went on this trip.   In any case, I adore all 6 of them and they are just so much fun and bring a lot of joy... and these two little ones? They never stop talking now... ;o)

It's that time of year again, when fall is here and Halloween is near. If you live in or around Haddonfield, New Jersey, you might have heard about Haunted Haddonfield. It's a tour of ghostly stories surrounding the town of Haddonfield. The tours are a fundraiser for both the Historical Society of Haddonfield and for the local Haddonfield Public Library. William Meehan Jr., who is a member of the Historical Society of Haddonfield, is the one that actually gives these tours every year. Bill is also the author of Haunted Haddonfield, which he published in 2002.           Bill's tour is full of stories going back some 300 hundred years. Some of these stories are about the haunted houses in Haddonfield, New Jersey. Bill tells some of his stories that surround a few of the cemeteries loc...

I know that there is a lot of information out there regarding the $8,000 First-Time Home Buyer Tax Credit, so I wanted to share the most recent update from HUD.  As you can see buyers are now able to access that tax credit and use it towards their downpayment and closing costs.
