Cranford, NJ Market ReportNovember, 2014 Cranford isn't resting on it's (holiday) laurels! The holidays are upon us!  The leaves are out at the curbs, the lights are beginning to shine, and I can practically taste the turkey!  But the Cranford, NJ real estate market is not showing signs that it'll be passed out, drooling on the couch like your uncle after he packs away a little too much sweet potato casserole on Thursday! The data shows that the Cranford, NJ real estatate market remains strong and active.  This information has been supported by very active open houses, and attendence by new Buyers.   Year-over-year for October, there were both more new listings and more closed sales, and the increase in closed sales outpaced the new listings.  Simple supply and demand dictates that when...

Cranford, NJ Market ReportOctober, 2014 Fall is a time for change.  The kids are back in school (woo hoo!!), the trees are putting on a spectacular show of color, and even though it's the middle of October, I'm already seeing Christmas displays!! The Cranford, NJ real estate market is changing, too.  We are now in the post-summer spike in home sale activity.  This bump usually last a few months, until the holiday season is really in full swing. While the year-over-year statistics (that is the numbers for Sept. 2014 compared to Sept. 2013) for the Cranford, NJ real estate market could cause some concern with a decrease in median sales price and a large increase in days-on-market, the year-to-date numbers tell a very different story. So far in 2014, the number of homes sold has outpaced t...

You may have seen his memorial in Cranford.   But do you know who Sergeant Curtis G. Culin III was? An upclose look at the memorial reveals this. Trying to move through Normandy in World War II, the Allied troops encounted hedgerows - lines of closely spaced shrubs that made movement through the area slow and difficult. Sergeant Culin was a member of New Jersey's 102nd Cavalry Squadron and was the person responsible for creating the first Hedgerow Cutter - a tank with an iron plow-shaped blade attached to the front to allow the tank to cut through hedgerows. Because the tank had what looked like a horn, or several horns, in front if it, it was sometimes called a "Rhino." This invention gave the tanks access to more locations and was able to speed up the Allies advance. At least 300 rhin...
