The views are incredible this time of year...I took these photos today, and even by my (see it all the time) standards these are magnificent views. First: Franconia Notch State Park - Surrounded by White mountain National Forest. The State park is where the "Old Man of the Mountain " once showed his stone face, it is also the site of the state owned Cannon Mountain Ski Area (Flume Gorge - Echo Lake & a number of trail heads to various hikes).  The far left of the photo -mid frame is the stone cliffs where the Old Man once stood...the rest of the range is Lafayette, Lincoln, Little Haystack, Liberty and Mount Flume and part of the Appalachian trail. North view. This shot into the sun lost some of it's vibrancy due to the south facing camera angle...But you are Looking at Loon Mountain's ...

I don't believe I have to say too much about this shot. I wish the pond I have been digging in my back yard for four years was done - but that is the only thing that could improve this foliage photo enjoy the colors of northern New England my friends. It should be pretty for another two week...then it will be on the ground, and raking begins. Woodstock New Hampshire - Pemigewasset River valley - a couple of miles from Loon & Cannon mt ski areas.   This Cool Mountain stream brings on the fall foliage early...this spot gets very little daylight even in the peak of the Summer months. This time of the year I just can't spend enough time in the woods. but as the days get shorter my treks tend to be closer to home. When I got out of work the other night I scrambled up this brook at the end of my property. It is a small blue line on a New Hampshire map - many would overlook the thread in the woods as a meaningless brook. To me it is paradise found. It is dark, mossy, shady and the water is frigid from a mountain pond source.                          It can be a bit slippery out here, so you really have to watch your step.   The White water and mist from the churning dampness tends to cover everything along the shore with moss.     I p...

You would never believe how much water I had on Sunday - Compared to Monday.   The Pemigewasset river took over my pond and back field area. Same two piles of dirt 24 hours later...Flood my home - but grant me beauty and all is forgiven. The White Mountain have cleared after a foot of rain -from Hurricane Irene.

While I put away lawn furniture and took down hammocks I snapped a few shots of a dry seasonal creek bed. Saturday  1 O'clock. Twenty four hours later the dry creek is filling the pond up rapidly. over looking my small pond Saturday. About 12 feet deep in the middle. We are about to over-flow the banks of the pond...over 20 feet deep right now and more rain on it's way. This is the site where I took down my Hammock pre-storm...Relatively dry for August, more of a trickle. The tree at the point where the "small inlet" breaks off the main branch of the river is about to come down, the root ball is three feet under water as of right now. More shots Tomorrow after the storm has passed. Woodstock New Hampshire Pemigewasset River scenes.

Saturday night Sunset over the white Mountains of New Hampshire. It's taken years to open up the five acre field behind my home in Woodstock NH and install a one acre pond. The results of my efforts have given my this view.                               Saturday Night Sundown - Mount Lafayette -Little Haystack and Lincoln.   Beautiful sunset last night 7:40 on an August night as summer is slipping away quickly. One of my Cats decided I needed to be awake at 5:30 this morning, but when I saw the glow through my bedroom window I figured ...hell I'm up time for a sunrise shot or two. Also kick the cat for waking me (not really). You can barely make out the pink reflection off the Pemigewasset river in the bottom left of the picture. The River is 600 feet from my house and makes for a nice ...

I have been out in the kayak a few times this season. I also live along the river so I see them go by everyday. This group was with a guide from Outback Kayak -603-745-2224. they do a great job of making families feel safe and that guaranties great fun on the water.  The Pemigewasset River / Woodstock New Hampshire.      The 6th hole of the Jack O'Lantern Golf course - with kayaks going by, while I stick my wedge. This group stashed their boats and decided this rock was the perfect spot for a photo op. I took this one from the third green of the golf course. (I have had plenty of balls in the water on this hole). Whether you plan to golf or Kayak, visit the trained bears, hike the Flume, Gondola rides at Loon or a local Zip-line adventure....It's Beautiful in the White Mountains of New ...

Summer is in full swing in the white mountains of New Hampshire This river valley is so beautiful and wide it's hard to even see the folks down by the river frolicking in the water. Same Route 175 Woodstock New Hampshire bridge in April  .... three months ago.     ... Scene from my Hammock spot 3 months ago to the day...8 degrees in April ...85 in July. The water is low and calm in the summer along the stony shore of the Pemigewasset river. This is the same location with 20 feet of ice piled up and a raging river taking trees down with the water. ..       Ready... Set.... Jump. (this was once the site of a covered bridge) . Route 175 Bridge in Woodstock NH October 2010...9 months ago, all the photos were taken with in a few 100 yards of each other and all were with in a nine month perio...

The rule is fairways and greens when you're golfing...I get to see much more of the course than I should. Along the course runs a set of rail road tracks the dinner train rolled by, the two story dinning car is pretty darn cool. But it is a bit distracting when you are trying to chip...it only comes by at night (7 pm - for dinner service) google Cafe Lafayette diner train for reservations. Covered bridge on the course is a nice bit of New England nostalgia, and a nice photo op. This great blue Heron watched my approach with some interest. I'm not sure if they are a protected species...but this one was lucky enough to avoid a wayward tee shot. I did break 70 tonight, and will try the back nine the next time I get a chance to play again. *I have a three bedroom condo listed on this golf c...

You know how teenagers are. But tonight my son and his girlfriend agreed to have dinner outside under the hemlock tree.  I found a bunch of wild Fox Glove out in the yard, and it made a nice center piece for our table this evening. The White Mountains and the Pemigewasset river form the lovely backdrop for our cook out under the stars. A little Boy-scout water ( better known as diesel) gets the fire going. Once the flames die a bit it will be marshmallows time.      Country living in New Hampshire kids are going camping down by the river tonight.

Now we lose daylight time until winter solstice December 21st. Lets all have a great summer. I choose to think the glass is half full - maybe even two/thirds. Deeded Quarter-share ownership in the White mountains of New Hampshire. The concept is like owning property with Three other partners who you don't have to ever coordinate - or budget ownership cost with.   So you want to own your vacation home , but you can't possibly use it all the time and you don't want to be married to the condo in terms of never feeling you can go somewhere else. Quarter share is the solution, it is yours every fourth week -so 13 times a year you can do what you want with the condo...use it rent it, exchange it to go elsewhere. Still, will it feel like home when you are there? Sure everyone else in the building has the same deeded week ( A-B-C or D) so you have the same neighbors when you come (unless they lend it -or rent it out).  This is fee simple ownership, i...

After a ton of rain this spring the Woodstock New Hampshire 18 hole course looks to be in very good shape. The apple trees were a blossoming and the Pemigewasset River was pretty full along the six hole of the course. The 10th is a par five along the river, it's very tough to be on in two. The green is protected by huge trees and the river is on three sides of the putting surface. The Back nine is very pretty and easy to walk along the flat river valley. Finishing up on the 17th - you cross this wonderful reproduction covered bridge to get to the 18th tee box. The rough was deep and difficult, the greens lush but slow and the course overall was in great shape for this time of the year in the North country. My first time out - May 22nd - Sunday after work golf with the guys. I have a Lis...

The torrential down pours added to the already overflowing river banks.  The fog almost obscures the white water ripping down the Pemigewasset River in Woodstock NH. The Humidity is so high tonight...70 degree air and 38 degree water. Hot meets cold and forms a blanket of fog.  I have had my hammock here for years, and it is normally 30 feet from the waters edge...tonight it's too close.     Good Night Foggy Sunset over the Pemigewasset River in the Mountains of New Hampshire.   the Field heading down to the water has a ghostly hue about it tonight...Good Night White Mountains.                   Call me for your white Mountain Property needs...Thanks all.

One of my Friends down south posted a photo titled "First Sunburn of the Year" Thank Marilyn rub it in.          Here is what Saturday Morning of Easter Weekend Brought our Way...!                                                                                                      The Local Fire Department is having an Easter Egg hunt this morning...and in a humorous twist of fate they decided on a theme that required the eggs to all be painted white. No- I'm just kidding we paint them day-glow orange to match the traffic cones so the kids wearing ski goggles can still find them. There is still time to get the kids down to the Lower Woodstock Fire station for the annual Easter Egg hunt. Pre-School Through grade 5 will all be welcome to participate. It looks like they'll be serving hot c...

There is an old stone bridge that supports the rail road track near my home in Woodstock New Hampshire.        The heavy winter snow is still melting in the mountains and the brooks will run for a while now.   I hope you all have a nice Easter Weekend...there are still a couple of Northern ski Resorts open, but not for long.  Follow Steve's White Mountain Blog and see more of New Hampshire's events and landscapes.    Use the MLS icon on the bottom of this post to search for White Mountain New Hampshire properties.

The snow is nearly gone.    The ice is nearly out.    A few chunks are still holding on.    A few casualties up on shore.  Winter left behind dead birch, broken limbs and river strewn stumps. It's not really spring until the dark and dreary days of late winter are over, and the snow is gone. Waiting for the green grass and warmer hikes through hills and valleys of the north country. Looking for property or buyer broker representation, in the White Mountains of New Hampshire  open any of the icons  or links below. The snow is gone for the next six months but it's a great time to look for next seasons deals - the best inventory comes on market after ski season is over.
