So by these calculations, remember the next time you use the phrase; 'once in a blue moon' it refers to a unit of time...meaning once every 2½ years.   New Hampshire’s extreme weather diversity…it never gets boring when it comes to the changing seasons in the Granite State. In fact we can have multiple seasons on the same day – often just a few miles apart.   Today was one of those strange days…I have Iris blooming in my yard, and about 50 miles away at the top of Mount Washington (summit 6,300 feet) the weather observation towers had to be cleared of snow.   The kayaks were enjoying the swelling rivers, while golfers where dodging rain drops to get a round in. An April hike produce a few nice photos I would love to share. The Flume Gorge is the a New Hampshire State park. the Franconia Notch State Park to be exact, just north of Indian Head on Rte 3 in Lincoln NH. The mossy walls are beginning to emerge from the Ice flows of April...the boardwalks are not ready for the public yet , but the hike is wonderful no matter the time of year. Avalanche falls didn't have a huge volume of water due to the lack of recent rains and a small amount of melting snow from this winter season. The moss was dripping with moister and the rocks are very slick, it is best to stick with the established trails in the flume and all the the state park trails.
