Loon Mountain Ski Fans..Drum roll please?!!!  January  12th 2009 *NEWS FLASH* If you have skied the South Mountain Summit trails down to Cruiser you have blasted past Escape Route. Now I'm not saying you should take this trail, because if you do there is no way back to the lifts, but! if you have a condo at the Riverside building (OR) you live close to the South Mountain Bridge. I'm guessing you will be able to walk home from the escape route trail. I have to let the cat out of the bag, I pulled into the base lodge parking lot at 9;10 Wednesday at the Pemi Base Camp. Mind you the lifts open at 9;00 am so I didn't arrive until after opening. First car in the lot, on a snow day over 500 schools canceled for the day Due to the 6-10 inch predictions. Pemi Base Camp & High speed quad chair about 100 feet away. Interior of the Pemi Base Camp..six employees and Me. I came in to put the boots on, and walk the 40 feet to the quad chair (9:15 am). Four Top to bottom runs..empty chairs..no one to share the joy with. South Peak Summit.. to Boom Run Leads to the Private ski back trail. We are extraordinarily Lucky on the east coast to have the full range of seasons. With the different weather comes a wide range of recreational activities. Currently it's ski season in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. But that is not the extent of the options, no not even close. I work in a Ski Resort Market, but as a local I will not attempt to get on the hill during the Holidays. For this reason I went skiing this morning and limited my time on the slopes to 90 minutes. It was snowing hard this morning and we have received over 3 feet of the white stuff in just the past two weeks. What does a yard sale have to do with Skiing? The is a saying that goes with a crash, If you fall so hard your stuff gets spread all over the slopes, that's a yard sale. You have skis, poles goggles, a scarf and a hat all in different locations when you finally come to a stop (That's A Yard Sale). What does a yard sale (crashing) have to do with real estate? Silent takes on a whole new meaning not many out in this mess. We are expecting 12-18 inches of snow from this storm. The Train Photo is right out my office back door. In fact I sat on the roof on this abandoned car to watch the fireworks on the 4th of July. I took out all the tools to get this one done. We had an out of state sale (relinquished property), we had a radon system,association documents and issues to tackle, there were battles over fixtures and decorations. We worked through addendum's ,extensions, lost garage door openers, inspection repairs, signatures from several different locations and multiple wire transfers. But today it's done, the drama is over (at least on one deal), and I have to tell you; having a good qualified intermediary made this all work. If you have not taken the time to learn about like kind exchanges, there is no excuse. This marks the start of the new Ski Season, the guns are going full blast today.   November 2008, the guns are on it's 21 degrees out and opening day is planned for 11/22/08 at Loon, they can lay down the white stuff pretty fast if the cold temperatures stay where they're at. We active rain junkies read, comment and commiserate with one another. Occasionally we share an uplifting story, a heart warming tale or an inspirational thought. It's hard in the real estate business right now but thank goodness we are independent and our time is truly our own. Sure we are at others beck and call but I can slip out to take a few runs on the hill, work in my garage, or play the back nine with a cell phone on vibrate and enjoy life between crisis's (what other 9-5ers can do that). After Columbus Day and before the Christmas week vacation, things get very quiet in the recreational and Ski property market. If you are a buyer that wants to see as many properties in your price range as you can now is the time to look. Condos are generally not rented, and sellers are busy at their primary homes getting ready for the up coming holiday season. Look when no one else is looking,  You will get better service and less activity can be a motivational factor for sellers when an offer is tendered. Buying your plow truck in July, and your convertible in January...is the same as buying a vacation home in the off season. Seller expectations are low when the market is slow. Several of my friends in different groups has been hearing about this pond I'm building. This is not a metaphor I'm actually building a pond. I'm also doing my part for the tradesmen that take care of me when I have an immediate repair issue...( photos Shot today). The excavation continues to make progress the pond will be 25 feet deep and 350 feet long, I hope to skate and raise frogs for the Falcons that live along the river. If these don't go away soon We are considering the luge for our winter training schedule. I have shared the view from my house a few times but not from the other direction. I grabbed my coffee at Dunkins this morning, and drove 9.2 miles on the Kancamagus  Scenic Highway to finish my first cup before work. Spectacular views right, how far did I hike to get these: the Next photo will give you your answer. I had to get out of the car to take the pictures, but my coffee didn't get cold while waiting for photos. This one I admit I didn't have to get out of the car for, talk about bang for the buck- this is but one of the more than a dozen scenic pull in areas. It took me 10 minutes to drive here from my office. Lincoln Woods Ranger Station is Walking Distance from Loon Mountain Ski Resort, and about 3 miles from my office..sounds like I'm bragging ..sorry..if you live in the city.
