The Million Dollar View Property sold...I'm happy for the buyers, they really seem like a great family. I will miss my frequent visits to this home, I volunteered to check on the place for the prior owners who live seven hours away. I know I've done my Job and got it sold, but personally I'll miss the morning visits. I climbed the steps one last time with a hot coffee in hand on a brisk winter's day. The state Park is technically closed this time of year, meaning the New Hampshire state park building is closed at this site. But you can still park and hike from the area, Indian Head is a great (short) winter hike and of course the views a breathtaking no matter the season. Picture was taken from exit 34 of Interstate 93, and the Flume parking area is a few hundred yards away.   Loon Mountain Ski Resort, and its parent company Boyne Resorts (plus all its affiliated ski resorts) has made a commitment to the American Red Cross relief efforts in Haiti. The resorts spread across the U.S. and Canada will donate one dollar for every lift ticket sold Saturday January 16. Individual guest donations are encouraged and will be accepted the entire Martin Luther King Day-weekend from 1-16 through 1-18. I'm never bored traveling the Northeastern states, from my home I can be in Boston in two hours, the Sea coast of Maine in two hours, Burlington Vermont two hours, or Sherbrooke Canada in about Two Hours.   The Boston City Sky line in the distance...after landing at Logan Airport, point the car north the next morning.   Two Hours on the Highway, this is the view from my exit...didn't get out of the car, just rolled down the window    Four minutes later I'm rolling past this custom home we recently built slope-side at Loon Mountain ski area.   First Car at the South Peak Base lodge...two hours and ten minutes after leaving Boston...first one on the lift. Let me run down some of the trails and peaks I tried today...First Run, Intermediate Cruiser on south peak. I little over cast but a great first run Even the trees were pretty today...the pines were crusted with ice, and the hemlock trees were heavily weighed down with a thick blanket of snow. Next Run - Boom Run,  also on the South Peak Side of Loon's ski resort. We are not relying on Mother nature...the snow guns are still cranking it out, some of these piles were 15-20 feet high...Ripsaw (double black diamond) will be open for the weekend. The clouds moved back in again...hope you can see the nice mountain views looking north from Upper Flying Fox Trail. This is the original slopes built near the Gondola lift. The Big White Weekend...So far 18 inches have fallen, it is indiscriminate and covers all things. The Pemigewasset River is more than 100 feet across below this bridge...but it's frozen and covered with snow this time of year.   It's hard to believe this picture was taken from the same spot on the bridge two months prior.   Three feet received so far this year, and another great ski season is underway at Loon Mountain Resort in Lincoln New Hampshire.         I'm pretty sure the pumpkins on the fronts step are still there...but under all that snow.   Something New and Different to tempt your pallet   Station Side Fine Dinning All - Aboard     The Cafe Lafayette Dinner Train.   When Visiting Loon Mountain Ski Area for this winter’s Recreation How about a new dinning experience…or Après’ skiing adventure?   For years the Dinner train has ridden the rails along the Pemigewasset River leaving the Station for a five course gourmet meal was (and is) loads of fun…and a dinning adventure. The Café Lafayette offers a nice wine list, cocktails, plus a domestic and imported beer selection.   This winter the owners Lance & Leslie have decided to offer club car service in a stationary fashion. I have been itching for some measurable snow fall...and I got my wish last night. All my ski season rentals have checked in to their winter homes, and have been waiting with skis in hand for the Loon Mountain Resort to open for the year. Views from my back yard of Mount Liberty, this peak is very Close to Cannon Mountain ski area. I haven't driven by the State owned resort yet today, but based on the snow in my yard they should have gotten a nice amount to kick off the season. Layette, Lincoln, Liberty and Hay stack Mountains in the center moving right...Left hand side is a glimpse of Cannon Mountain Ski Area.
