HOLD ONTO YOUR LAKES REGION HOMES The Laconia Area Community Land Trust will host a workshop January 26 aimed at helping homeowners hold onto homes that are in default and facing foreclosure.  The two-hour session is free and open to all income-level households but pre-registration is required. The 88th Annual Laconia NH Bike week wrapped up last Sunday and the wrap up is in. The residents of the Lake Region take their towns back but only for 1 week and the Summer vacation season kicks off with July 4th week bringing hundreds of thousane new tourists into to the state.  While rainy weather slowed everyone done the first weekend the gorgeous weather the second half of the week and 2nd weekend sure made up for it.As the Rally expands from Laconia, communities all accross the Lakes Region to the Seacoast and up to the Mountains benefitted with increased tourists. While the final numbers are not in, the year usually averages 400,000 visitors.This year i got enjoy some of the favorites, The hillclimb, a motorcycle show, headed over to the drive in to check out the bands and enjoyed... 06/23/2011

Tuesday at 820am "Ice-Out" Was declared on Lake Winnipesuakee which signifies the onset of Summer travel, boating , fishing and tourism season. The official "ice out is declared when the M/S Mount Washington Cruise Ship can navigate between all it's ports of calls including Meredith, Alton Bay, Center Harbor, Weirs Beach and Wolfeboro.Each one has one of my favorite Ice Cream Shops..... In case you wanted to know...For me it seems late this year especially remembering ice out was March 24 last year. So get your boats warmed up.. but you may want to hold off on that swim as my guess is the water is hovering around 43 degrees..Another reason why New Hampshire is a great place to Visit, Play and Live. Over the weekend i was wishing for some California Sunshine but last night just before midnight we got some genuine California shaking. Small by California standards but seeing an Earthquake in NH is usually pretty uncommon to be felt. The lakes Region of NH was rocked with a 2.5 mag. earthquake centered 15 miles north of Laconia in Ashland. It wasn't the kind of rocking the lakes region is known for and it wasn't Elvis.A gentleman at Subway told me it reminded him of bike week which now is a mere 5 months away, 2 more months of winter to go and spring is right around the corner. 01/04/2011

I had the opportunity to show a home in Laconia, NH  today. It was built in the early 1900's and showed significant wear. A roof was needed, windows, heat system, kitchen and bathroom upgrades were also needed. What was most surprising however was the price. It was very reasonable making this home hard to pass up for my buyer. What surprises most buyers is that there is a loan program that will allow the borrower access to funds to repair all these items. It's called the FHA 203K program. You should check it out. The buyer must have a contractor do the work and must owner occupy the home upon purchase. The borrower gets access to 1/2 the sum of the repair costs at closing and the remainder once the work is completed.
