Concord's City Planners are stepping up to the plate and are looking into expanding our city's Middle Income and Workforce Housing.  They are looking into converting upper story downtown space into apartments or condominiums to encourage more downtown mixed-use development. They are considering tax incentives and even allowing overnight parking on city streets. They are also considering changing building codes to allow for more flexibility in dealing with older buildings and conversions....most of Concords buildings fit the  older building category.  Several factors have contributed to the renewed interest:The aging population looking for the convenience of in-town livingThe increase in property value has made the cost of conversion less dauntingGas prices are adding to the attractiv...

Many of Concord New Hampshire's Neighborhood Elementary Schools date to pre-1936.   There is a plan in the works to consolidate Concords Eight Elementary Schools . The "Plan"  envisions closing four, rebuilding two and one new one!  A group of citizens , calling themselves ABC (A Better Choice), is attempting to save seven of the schools by having them put on the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance List (NHPA). This in an attempt to preserve Concord's heritage.  Those seeking to consolidate have an Economic Perspective. They contend  that dropping enrollment has made them too small to be effective!   Whatever the decision....to remodel or rebuild most hope that the schools can be preserved even if in Another Capacity. The schools in Concord have been centers of neighborhood Social Acti...

Several members of the Concord, New Hampshire Board of Realtors-CBR (and several Affiliates) spent the better part of today helping with  the Red Cross Blood Drive. The Blood Drive was held in the Activity Centerof St. Johns from 10:00 TO 4:00. There was no lack of volunteers....serving food, registering donors and spreading goodwill! There were even several raffles (to the delight of the donors)      Just another example of what we can do as Realtors to connect with and further  serve our   Communities. Another way to help our Realtor Image!                                                                    It's also a way to have just plain fun!  Concord New Hampshire Realtor Local Information     Energy Star Is Alive ...

Last year I was  part of a Strategic Planning program for PIC a Non-Profit. The experience emphasized to me the vital importance of "Branding" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~  Who doesn't recognize.... the words "Plop Plop Fizz Fizz" , "G r r r-eat" or Snap,Crackle and Pop?   How about Symbols?  Do these even need an explanation?                                                                                 Large company's and organizations spend many thousands of dollars on Marketing and Branding. Company's aspire to the level of recognition that happens when Consumers associate their brand with a product! Think about Kleenex, Q-tips,or Band Aid! These "Brands" are universal.  In the world of Non-...

I had a wonderful idea for a Blog. It was Inspired! It was a normal day here in Concord, New Hampshire! I was on my way to an appointment. The traffic was very heavy. While I was waiting at the light I saw a Purple Dump Truck making a left up the old dump road. It was the the only purple truck I  had ever seen.I wanted to follow him! I wanted to know who he was. I wanted to know why his truck was PURPLE! Alas....I had to continue to my appointment. But, what I had seen gave me a headful of ideas for a Blog. A Blog about people and how they express themselves!   The Purple Truck was to be my centerpiece...later that day I called a few of the businesses on the old dump road. I figured someone must have known who he was! But it was as if he was just a "purple haze" of my imagination and I ...
