Our grand-dog came to visit this weekend and he decided he needed to go out around 330 this morning.  I let him out and heard a bark yelp and at first thought, uh oh is there someone out there that just hurt Buster?  I went out and heard him making wet slurping sounds and I knew, I just knew what happened.   He came when I called and there was his sweet Boxer nose all covered with porcupine quills.  And he is in distress. We had three agents at our office over the past month that had the same experience so I knew there was a 24 hour Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Manchester and gave them a call.It is the Southern NH Veterinary Referral Hospital and boy were they great, they  took us right in.  Buster went nighty night and was back out in less than an hour.  Thankfully he didn't bite a... 07/30/2011

The first phase is to review and analyze recent sales, and determine which market factors influenced property values in Amherst NH. Dutch Elm Disease Resistant Tree on property at Amherst NH real estate office     I received a call from the Elm Research Institute.  Seems our Amherst NH real estate office property at 108 Ponemah has one of only 300,000 disease resistant Liberty Elms that have been planted in the last 26 years in an attempt to restore the elms that were wiped out by Dutch elm disease Seems the previous owner planted the tree.  Well I told her I don't know about this elm tree, but I will be glad to take a look.  She said, " well it should be about 60' tall." In New Hampshire, we celebrate our Freedoms and New England priniciples, the state motto is Live Free or Die! We choose to live in Amherst New Hampshire for the fresh air, the quality of life, access to services and in many ways a more peaceful life.  Amherst's sense of community is strong; just come to the Amherst NH Village Green this weekend and enjoy this wonderful town. We moved from Connecticut in the 80's when we felt our lives were getting too frenzied.  Then we moved to Downeast Maine, back to my family's island roots and found that was the other far extreme, it was just toooo quiet.  We settled in NH in the mid 1990's and found that was just right. Another terrific 4th of July Fireworks Display in Amherst, NH is on tap again this year!   This is an annual celebration that my family looks forward to every year.   We plan a trip to the Souhegan High School football field and buckle in for an amazing and lengthy display of color, pops, whirs and "cannon fire".       Fireworks are scheduled to begin Sunday night, July 3rd at Souhegan High School at Dusk. Festivities will include Music, Hot Air Balloon Rides, Magicians, Food and more.  A full schedule of events is attached below, and you can also checkout the Amherst website with more information for area residents and visitors here. The Amherst NH July 4th celebration is scheduled to begin the evening of , July 3rd, with the parade to follow on the 4th.  The theme for the 2011 parade is “Traditions in Amherst”.  All events are centered around the Amherst Village Green NH. Front Row Seats for a Robin's Flying Lesson in Amherst NH real estate office Our resident Robin babies flew yesterday and we had a front row seat.  We were giggling and smiling and even had to protect the little guys at one point. I arrive at the office early and I see Momma in the nest and she's chirping.  I said "Hi Momma".  Michelle says "that's not Momma, its a baby."  Yeow did they get big quick. Michelle saw the first one fly out and away.  There was a second one that made it out of the nest and sat frozen on the porch railing for a couple of hours. This morning I start the day as always, a nice hot cup of coffee, my IPAD2 and real estate news.  I am reading the comment made by Frank Noftaft, Freddie Mac's Chief Economist and he says, "Look for gradual, but substantive improvement in housing activity in the coming year."  He expects more robust economic growth in the second half of this year. Reminds me of the other recent news reports, Shiller said there could be another 25% coming out of prices, now that is hard to believe, but who knows, some markets may continue to drop.  We'll only know for sure when its all over. The MBA (Mortgage Banker's Association) reports residential home loan applications surged in May 4.5% for home purchases due to the reduced interest rates. We have loved watching our Momma Robin build her nest at our Amherst NH real estate office, sit on her eggs and greet us (or yell at us?) each day. Some mornings she's on the ground collecting food, other mornings she sits on the porch rail and chirps at me as I arrive bright and early. This morning she was sitting beside the nest.  Look at how proud she is!  I figured the babies must be getting too big for her to fit in the nest. Next thing I know shes in the nest and feeding them, had to shoot this one through the window so its a little fuzzy. But I see two babies! The best part is watching the Momma teach the babies to fly. Last year we watched a family in the other end of the porch and the Momma and Daddy both participated in the flying lessons...Three of the babies jumped right out... 06/14/2011
