We have a wonderful barn on our Amherst property that now sits proudly behind the office building at 108 Ponemah Road... I am so pleased that we were able to move the barn to allow for more parking for the office...It was exciting and fun to watch the process...Loads and loads of fill was brought in, then we poured a new foundation and gave the barn an "under garage"...Acessed from the back..perfect for the tractors and snowblowers and more... The process took about 30 days to prep and get ready for moving day...The windows were removed and the barn was braced with lots of lumber (thanks to my husband Mike) and then the crane arrived...the crane had a 220 ton lift capacity and you should have seen this... You see the barn before it was moved, peeking out from the left of the photo behin...

I am always thinking about ways to help others and sometimes think about how it needs to be big to make an impact... But you know what?  It doesn't....We agreed at our sales meeting this week that we should run a coat drive; others do this as well and I thought, but we don't have a lot of time, we should have planned this better... And then I thought one single coat makes a difference to the person that needs it... So we rallied and put the following ad in the paper, a sign is going out front and I emailed lots of friends and associates...then I thought, wait a minute..this is a Pay It Forward....

My husband and I were travelling down Route 101 from Amherst and into Bedford and just before we crossed the town line, we were travelling past Bragdon's Farm and as we came down the hill we saw a good size moose coming out of the bog on the right hand side of the road....we slowed and watched as the moose stood still and swung his head left and then right and proceeded to cross the road and loped over a fence and into the sloping field on the other side of the road... (Moose Gustav in "Grönåsens Älgpark" Kosta, Sweden © C.Schultz   My husband said, "Did you see that?"  .... I said, "Sure did, that moose just looked both ways!"

NH Buying Opportunities....the Perfect Storm... I strongly believe that opportunities exist in times of uncertainty...and I believe the times of uncertainty are waning... Buyers that wait to time the bottom of the market will miss out on some incredible buying opportunities....I can't say we have hit the bottom...some say prices have stabilized, some say there is more to come in terms of further price adjustments...some appraisers say the market is flat, others say we are still in a declining market and still others say they have seen some appreciation.... This spells MARKET UNCERTAINTY!! Everyone is saying it, buyers should take advantage of the "perfect storm" that exists today...with interest rates, inventory and great buying opportunities... Today is the day after election day and w...

I grew up in Southern Connecticut (Fairfield County).  We moved from Connecticut because things had gotten just too busy.... the roads were all full of traffic jams, you could never find a parking space and a day at the beach, yeah right... We moved to Downeast Maine (way up by Bar Harbor) and lived there for 10+ years.  This was a place that my grandmother used to call "God's Country"...quiet, beautiful, untouched....Did I mention quiet?  My son heads off to Kindergarden in the town's brand new K-8 and we find out there are 100 kids in the school...yup in the entire school...his Kindergarden class has a total of 12 children, 6 boys and 6 girls...by the time he's in the third grade there are 6 children in the entire third grade....Soo.... we decided this just wasn't going to work for u...

Our New Hampsire Association of Realtors reported today that the NH "edge" continues to widen... Our unemployment rate in NH is at 5.5% and is one of the best in the country.  NH is top in the region in terms of economic activity... 73% of dwelling units in our state are owner occupied...that number is 66% nationwide by comparison. The data also indicates home prices seem to be stabilizing, following a 9% decline in 2008 and 11% decline in 2009. We are not in a full recovery by all I see, but numbers do keep getting better in New Hampshire... Buyers need to take advantage of these low low interest rates and not try to time the bottom of the NH real estate market.. Buyers should get out there and make the best deal they can...there is a large inventory of NH homes to choose from (the num...

So its a beautiful sunny morning and the trees are just a vibrant blend of yellows, amber and red..Fall in NH... I remember the day I decided to move to Amherst...we were viewing a home in Amherst Village,it was just this time of year, there  was a large maple and  some oaks all popping with color..It was a Deja vu moment, the colors, the smells of oak and acorns (do they really have a smell?)..it reminded meof good times growing up in New England and another one of those warm and fuzzies landed inside me...OK, this isit...and it was it, we purchased the home and moved to Amherst Village... Our son walked to Wilkins School each day and I could hear from our house the children's voices on the playground in the distance.. the laughs, the whistles and the yells...distant and comforting in ...

A brief primer on designated and buyer agency... Our company practices, as many do, "designated agency"... if you feel you need representation at all, which of course is optional based on your comfort level in the home buying process, then if you approach the listing agent directly AND want buyer representation, then you will be eventually referred to a different in house agent to take up your side of the transaction, the purchasing side.  Designated agency creates that arm's length transaction which guarantees that your interest will be protected during the real estate transaction. Here is an example...for instance, you may simply use your own knowledge base as a guide in the purchase or you may hire a lawyer to look over your offer before submitting it and in both of these ways you ca...

3 Amherst NH Best Priced Real Estate Opportunities  The Amherst NH real estate market opportunities are plentiful, much like the rest of the country.  A group of Amherst NH Realtors were discussing the incredible real estate buys in the area and one said, "It's a shame more buyers are not jumping in..Many are trying to time the "bottom" of the market andIn doing so will probably miss out on the great deals in interest rates. What some buyers are not seeing is the savings in mortgage payments based on the low, low interest rates (now in the low 4')."  Case Shiller reported recently a $300,000 property in 2006 had a P & I payment of $1533 a month... In today's market based on price depreciation and lower rates, that payment is $833. Experts agree interest rates have nowhere to go but up.....

Oh boy, here it comes....Halloween in Amherst Village   Halloween has been a big deal in Amherst Village for some time. Kids and adults come from all over the area to go trick or treating in the village. It is a great time for all.   Some of the roads in Amherst are closed for the evening and the the Village is packed with goblins and ghouls, princesses and all kinds of fun costumes. This is serious business folks...You can tell many of the costumes are hand made and the attention to detail is clear.   When we lived in the Village, we lived on Sunset Road and abutted the cemetary (we had someone comment that it must be quiet there and I told him it was, but at this time of year, they got pretty rowdy in there) .   Sunset is a smaller dead end road that didn't get as much Halloween tra...
