Pay it Forward with Toys for Tots! As usual, this week provided many opportunities to Pay it Forward in Wrightsville Beach, NC.  I took advantage of as many as possible.  But my favorite this week? Buying toys to donate to the Marine Toys for Tots Campaign!  CA & I had a great time shopping for toys for boys and girls of all ages.  There are so many to choose from!  Our goal was to buy toys for 10 children.  As usual, we exceeded our goal -- by 10!  It was just too much fun getting to play Santa! If you follow my blog at all, you know that I have a major soft spot for children.  For children whose families are struggling, hope is more important than ever, and the chance to give them a reason to smile and hope is just too precious to pass up.  Can't you just picture the faces of children...

365 Things to do in Wilmingon and the Cape Fear Region - Day 95---It't Turkey Trot Time around the USA....Dick and Sandy started the Wilmington Turkey Trot in 2005. The Although actual turkeys do not trot, they probably would have if given the chance.  The Turkey Trot is one of the largest Thanksgiving Day events around the country. Wilmington's first trot sarted at 8:45 am. in  2005 at the Wrightsville Beach Loop.  Dick and Sandy ran in the Turkey Trot in the Great Northeast of Upstate NY....in the dead of winter and in the sleet, snow and ice.... When they moved to NC they thought why not celebrate the holiday in the South....the weather is great!  Their first event was to benefit Habitat for Humanity and some monies went to support the victims of Katrina on the Gulf Coast.    What a ...

Pay it Forward at your local Food Bank I read an article this week about hunger in America.  The US Department of Agriculture says hunger across the country is at its highest point in 15 years with nearly 15 percent of the country's population struggling to feed their families. 15% of the people in our Country are struggling to feed their families.  It's heartbreaking.  Locally, the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina always needs more food and money.  They distributed nearly 4.8 million pounds of food last year and it's a pretty sure bet that this year the number will be much higher. It seems overwhelming when you read a story like that.  What can one person do?  How can one person make a difference? By helping out!  By volunteering, donating food or money.  This week, I deci...

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Wrightsville Beach, NC! Downtown (that sounds funny when you think of how small Wrightsville Beach is!) yesterday showing some property and noticed that the Christmas lights and decorations are going up all over.  It's fun to see our little town all lit up for the Season. I'll be posting more, and better, photos as the work continues all over Wrightsville Beach.  You might even want to start looking for a new profile picture -- it's coming!  And I'm throwing in a photo that CA took yesterday, I love to see the boats in Banks Harbor -- on November 27th many of them will be lit up for the NC Holiday Flotilla, an event no one should miss! If you are looking for a place that will welcome you with open arms, and generous hearts, look no further ...

I want to be your Listing Agent, but I won't "buy" your listing.  Folks, I've said it before, and I'll say it again -- the market is improving.  It is getting better every day.  Properly priced homes are selling in Wrightsville Beach, NC.  You caught that, didn't you?  PROPERLY PRICED HOMES ARE SELLING IN WRIGHTSVILLE BEACH, NC.  This is not the market to list high to give yourself negotiating room.  This is the market to list properly and competitively.  Anything else is a dis-service to you and me.  In the past I have taken listings that I felt were a "little" high.  Those were different times, a different real estate market.  And I have never been afraid to push the envelope just a "little".  But if your goal is to sell your home in today's real estate market, you need to list at the...

Matchmaker, Matchmaker, make me a Match!  I love that song, and Fiddler on the Roof is one of my all time favorite musicals.  We were listening to it the other day and CA started changing the words.  "Find me a deal, catch me a steal. Look through your book and make me a perfect match" I'm a matchmaker of sorts --Bringing Homesellers and Homebuyers together is what I do best!     Are you looking for that "perfect" home?  I CAN HELP!   Lets define the "perfect" home.  It has intact walls, ceilings, windows and doors.  Okay,  that's all I've got --  until YOU tell me what you want and need. And then, I WILL find it!  It will not be a 'perfect" building, but it will be the "perfect"  home for YOU!  It will be the home you've been imagining yourself in, the home you hoped for, but weren't ...

The real estate market stinks.  No one's buying homes right now.  They can't get approved,  they're waiting for prices to go down,  interest rates to go lower . . .  You watch the news, you know the drill.  So, don't call me to list your house.  I'll probably sell it.  That's right, if I list your home I'll most likely get it sold.  That's what I do.  I know our local Wrightsville Beach real estate market.  I know how to get your home sold when everyone else is telling you it can't be done.  I pay no mind to the naysayers, I forge my own path and make things happen for my Sellers.  I could give you all the data to support my claim that homes ARE selling.  But you're not interested in that.  It's much better to listen to some talking head on the news who doesn't live or work here and has...

You've heard it, and heard it, from Real Estate Agents, Mortgage Brokers, Loan Officers, Home Stagers -- IT'S A GREAT TIME TO BUY A HOUSE!  I've even suggested it myself.  But I have come to my senses.  There is no reason to buy a home in Wrightsville Beach, NC, or anywhere for that matter, right now.  Forget the great prices, historically low interest rates and fantastic homes to choose from.  Please, don't buy a house right now.  It will be so much better for me if you wait! Yep, I said it.  And I mean it.  If you wait for the prices to go up, I'll make more money.  And, as I believe I've mentioned before, this is a business.  I'm in it to make money.  I know, it doesn't sound like I'm suggesting what is best for buyers.  And I'm not.  I've been suggesting it ad nauseam, and no one'...

"I'm going to wait for the market to hit bottom before I buy." Are you now?  And when exactly will that be?  Are you the one who hijacked my crystal ball?  Hope that thing's working better for you than it did for me.  How will you know when the market has hit bottom?  Will there be a memo sent out to let us all know it's on a certain date?  Who is going to let you know?  Will your Uncle Cecil's wife's, brother's, cousin-in-law's, niece's friend tell you?  Really.  I want to know.  How will you know when the market has hit bottom? I know the answer.  Are you ready for it?  Can you handle the truth? We'll know the market has hit bottom AFTER it's happened.  Yep.  Simple as that.  This is one of those things that cannot be predicted accurately.  By anyone.  Even me, and I've been doing thi...
