In the Wake Forest NC Real Estate market, both commercial AND residential inventory and sales are fluid!  Fluid as in moving like a rushing river and changing course!  What may have been considered a reasonable price point a few weeks or months ago for a property has most likely changed. I can promise that no Realtor® will argue the point that if you want to sell your home you must price it properly.  But, even well priced homes will, at times, linger on the market for a little longer and there may be certain factors that play into that. If you are in an area where you have strong competition chances are the other Realtors® and sellers are just as savvy and priced their properties properly.  With that, not every home, regardless of price, is going to be the perfect "fit" for every buyer...

Winter is the time of year for most of us that we like to light the fire in the fireplace, curl up with a good book, a glass of wine and forget the bitter cold just outside our walls.  While fireplaces are a beautiful focal point, conversation piece and delight in the winter there are many preventative maintenance tips you should adhere to: Your chimney should be swept annually by a qualified professional.  A qualified Chimney Sweep can be sure that your chimney is free of debris and in good working order. The liner of your chimney needs to be free of cracks.  The liners allow for clear and smooth passage for smoke to rise out and out of your home and the liner prevents gas and fire flames from entering your home potentially cause illness or fire. Ensure that your flue is functioning ...

You can forget the days of only dialing 7 digits soon if you live in the Triangle area.  You can start dialing 10 digits as of Oct. 1st (well, really, I think my phone already dials 10 digits), but it will be required on your cell phone after March 31, 2012.  So there probably will be a bunch of April Fools that next day!   WRAL.com has a story on this that gives more background on the why, but suffice it to say, there's a lot of people around here now!   Heck, there will even be a new area code in our area:  984!  919 won't be all alone here anymore, and the area codes will be mixed around based on when a number is issued, not on geography alone.   So get used to dialing that area code as well, soon you'll have to!

Wouldn’t you be surprised to learn that Boston College wasn’t in Boston, or that UCLA had moved to San Diego?  Well, those schools have stayed where their names imply, but Wake Forest University moved in the mid-1950’s.  I know this is weird, but Wake Forest University is not in Wake Forest.  It’s in Winston-Salem, 90 or so miles away.   Basically what happened was that the Reynolds family (think RJ Reynolds, the tobacco company that brought us such cigarette brands as Winstons and Salems) wooed the university away to a new campus with cash and endowments.  So the location changed but the name stayed the same.   Meanwhile, back in Wake Forest, the  still-lovely former university campus is now occupied by the Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
