I can not tell you how many times I have been in stores or restaurants and I hear tourists asking for directions to the Wake Forest University.  When they find that although they may BE in Wake Forest the University is approximately 2 hours away......Talk about frustrated!  Sometimes they even get mad like it was a whole conspiracy by the town to mislead them.......Well, here is a little history lesson regarding Wake Forest and well, Wake Forest..... Way, way back in February of 1834 (told you it was way back) the very first class enrolled in what was then called the Wake Forest College.  When the Civil War started all the students but 5 were obligated to the Confederate Army.  That huge loss of student body forced the school to close in 1862. I remember when my husband and I were originally considering a move to Wake Forest......I said, "Huh? No way I am living that far out!!!"  I could only envision long trips into Raleigh for groceries, a Lowe's or a Target..... My, oh my, how things have changed in 6 short years.  Wake Forest is growing leaps and bounds!  We have the Target, Lowe's, Home Depot, Super Wal-Mart, large chain restaurants such as Chili's, Applebee's, Red Robin, etc, and some smaller private restaurants (outstanding food by the way!).... One of the things I loved most about was Wake Forest was the quaint, historic downtown area.  There are some great shops such as Old Magnolia Trading Company, Olde English Tea Room and N.C. Wow - we received some MUCH NEEDED rain last night! Hopefully it will continue through today. While it won't make my Open House easier (later this afternoon) we desparately need the rain!Here are some pics from last night. Last night was BEAUTIFUL! There were so many gorgeous decorations that it was very hard deciding which to use..... Here are some of the sights from last night! There were some gorgeous homes to oohhh and aahhh over! I tried to take a picture of the pavillion at the Rolesville park - it is in here but not such a great picture. I have one of my friend's home in here - you know who you are! Your lights freaked me out! Everytime I tried to take a picture your lights went out - then I realized that you had music sync'd to the lights and everytime the music stopped the lights went out - I had to "time" my picture, regardless, beautiful home, guys! Don't forget - The Wake Forest Christmas Parade is this Saturday (Dec 8th) starting at 1:00pm!!!  Get there early and scope out your prime seat for what I am sure will be the best Christmas Parade yet!  My family never misses this.  Load up the thermos' with hot chocolate and enjoy the festivites. While downtown don't forget to explore all the shops in the downtown area.  Great gift shops and delicious restaurants abound - have fun!
