Sometimes it is good to just transport ourselves to another place mentally, even if only for a few minutes. We're grateful for a very good several months of real estate transactions but it sure has been a morass of details. The short sale that turned out to not have a right of way to the state road and the farmhouse with the 1933 power easement surprise took an amazing amount of energy. Revisiting listings taken in winter to rephotograph with fresher and more seasonally appropriate photos takes time. Catching up on business after an awesome two week visit with my mother was intense...but worth it.   We’ve been hitting the ground running every day for the last several weeks working with local clients and people moving into the mountains of Western North Carolina. Those people moving here either for full or part time all share one thing in common…they want to be closer to these most ancient of mountains. Last weekend I had dinner at the new house of our friends from Charlotte, NC and even though the food was excellent…my favorite part of the entire evening was witnessing their contentment in just being here. They both described the feeling of all of their stress and tension peeling away when they drive up to their mountain home in Franklin, NC. Another photo from one of my many visits to Sylva Vista. I am intrigued by the legend and artwork of the Green Man and like to capture the images whenever they move me. Green Man, for me, reminds me that we all must act as guardians for nature and our planet. Our role is to act as mentors and role models to others, be visible as we treat the world as kindly and ethically as we wish to be treated. Finding time is much more difficult than making time. I’ve been on a quest for some time to find time to explore the Picnik website. It’s about time that I admit I’ve lost time in the meantime.   The musical sound of lapping waves would not have surprised me in the slightest while I enjoyed gazing out at this amazing sea of mountains. The wide wooden deck of our friend’s Sylva Vista home is easily imagined as the weathered deck of a mighty seafaring vessel docked in an exotic port. 12/11/2011

We enjoyed another lovely gathering at our good friend’s house in Sylva Vista. This time we were celebrating the emergence from a dark period and celebrating a new beginning.     Jackson County, North Carolina offers a number of really fine subdivisions, but I think one of my favorites is Sylva Vista. I posted an article the other day about the sense of community Sylva Vista exhibits, but today I want you to know how convenient it is to the Town of Sylva. It’s wonderful that a subdivision like Sylva Vista can boast privacy, views AND convenience to everything you might need on a daily basis.     Less than 10 minutes from Sylva Vista’s entrance is grocery shopping at Food Lion, movies at the Quin Theater, ice cream & coffee at Jack the Dipper, health care providers at WestCare Hospital, ABC Liquor Store, pizza at Nick & Nate’s, other restaurants and shopping in downtown Sylva and Jackson County’s new pride and joy - our gorgeous new public library.     Speaki... 09/10/2011
